Title: Hw30s/R7 barrel pivot lube ?
Post by: harry palmer on January 14, 2013, 10:09:42 AM
Do any of you guys lube the ball bearing detant on your rifles?.I ask because I had a bad faulty lock up on a previous HW30s (which I got a refund for). It`s got me a bit paranoid and I don`t know whether to stick with just lubing the barrel pivot bolt on my current 30s (which locks up nice and snug without lube) or perhaps put a dab of Moly on the ball bearing as well! ???

Thanks

Kenny.

Thanks brother; I`m probably over-thinking things and seeing problems were there are none!

I lube the detent and ball on the R7s I've worked on.  It helps for a smoother lock-up, as it reduces friction.  I too lube the barrel pivot bolt, shims and the bottom of the cocking arm and cocking slot.  Even though most R7/HW30 are smooth to start with, putting some moly on these parts does make a difference.
