Title: Leather seal options
Post by: cmjr on January 10, 2013, 06:18:19 PM
What options will be available to me if I have to replace the leather seal on my RWS45?  It's one of the early (1980) crossbolt models and I would prefer to keep it original....

If you cannot find a replacement you could always make your own.  There used to be a link in the "Library" on making leather seals.  If it's not there anymore I'm sure someone can find it..  I remember reading the leather seal making tutorial, complete with pics, and it was pretty straight forward.   Hope this helps..

You might try Chambers over in the UK.  Good source for obsolete parts.  Ditto JGAirguns.  As said, there are some good links on making new seals.  First try a couple drops- as in drops- of pure silicon oil down the transfer port and stand butt down for 24 hours.  That old seal might surprise you.

Unless the original is shredded and rotten clean it and re oil with silicone and neetsfoot oil.  My old style hardware store has a leather pump cup tray of many sizes yours might too if it needs replacement and ya don't wanna wait to mail order.
