With JSB 18.1 in 5.52/5.53 head no longer available it would seem, and H&N Barracuda match 5.53 on B/O + darn pricey ...
Anyone try some .22 cal Field Target Trophy 14.46 gr in the 5.53 or 5.55 head size ?
**This in a known Big Bore .22 m-rod barrel that Typically shoot the Exact Jumbo Heavy 18.1 and H&N BM 21.3 very well**

I just received 4 tins today, for a Prod on the way. My Mrod likes the Baracuda Match 5.53's, so will try some the FTTs. Probably won't have time for testing, until the weekend though. I suspect they will be decent.

Can't answer your question. But have to say the ones I have have a consistent fit into the breech opening. The fit fills the same as the JSB heavies when loading. Not sure if that helps. LOL

I have been mainly shooting my prod this weekend, but did try two mags of FTT 5.53 14.66g pellets in the .22 mrod. Single hole, just slightly larger than Baracuda match 5.53's. In the same verticle plane as the BM, with just a very slightly higher poi. About 100fps higher velocity than the BM. This was on my 10 yd indoor range, bench rest. It has been way too windy to do any further distance shooting. From what I am seeing @ 10yds, plan to do further testing when I can. If yours shoots the BM's well, pick up a tin of the FTT's to try, on the next order.

Bummer :P .... getting really disgusted with this .22 barrel !
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING other than H&N barraduda match 21.3 in 5.53 shoot worth a dang.
50 yards on all SHOWN:
Current production JSB 18.1's 5.53 marked, but measured at 5.47.... JUNK shotgun pattern 10 shots
Current production H&N FFT 5.53 & correct .... JUNK shotgun pattern 10 shots
Current production H&N BM 5.53 & correct ... WOW just fantastic !! 10 shots ALL touching
No choice but putting the .177 barrel back on ... The H&N BM's are STILL on B/O :P

Well, that sux. I was expecting a bit better, even @ 50yds.

Pretty soon your pellet testing bill( not to mention the PITA expense ) is going to exced that of a L-W Polygon barrel...and said L-W can be made nearly 24" long too. Just sayin'...:)
cheers,
Douglas
I am not so intrested in the light stuff, BC is pretty poor.

Motorhead...I bought several tins of the H&N field target trophy. They do not shoot as well as the Jsb 18.13.
I find the closest pellet that comes to a JSB 1.13 is a Premier 14.3 HP.
I've bought several other pellets from JSB, The jumbo RS, the jumbo, and the jumbo express.
The pellets inside the can are messed up. My guess is the kids where they are stored are using them as pucks for shuffleboard ;)
The good pellets from these cans don't impress me at all.
I am to a point that I am looking to swage my own pellets, but that's just disgust thinking.

Whats the real pizzer is already having gone down this path of finding the right pellet ;D ( Jsb 18.1 & H&N BM 21's ) over a year ago !
Now that Jsb 18's not so good canal water got to find something less pricey than the BM's :P ... At @ $23.50 per 500 tho ONLY sold in 200 ct tins ( before discounts or multi tin purchasing ) hands down the most costly pellet one could shoot >:(

I have had good success with the H&N FTT's in 5.55 or 5.54 in my Marauder. They are very accurate for me at 30 yards. The Crossman Premier domes are actually the best so far out of my gun (not cheap either at $25 for 625 pellets) followed by Air Ams 16 gr (reasonably priced) and the 21 gr. H&N Baracuda Match pellets. I was amazed at how well the AA 16 gr pellets shot as they are supposed to be made by JSB and my gun absolutey hates the JSB 18.1 diablos! I believe the 18.1 pellet to be the worst one I have tried to date as each group has a huge and irregular pattern.
My Titan likes both the H&N FTT & AA 16.0's too and is pretty much all that gun will shoot reliably.

OK, so when did they change the JSB 18.1's? They're listed as 5.52 on P.A.'s site. I got my last tin about 2 mos ago & they shoot fine out of my Marauder?

I got my last tin in December. I put 30 pellets in a dime group with them at 50 yards. I shot them all up and have several tins on back order. There were very few culls in the 18.1s.
Looking at the other jsbs that I bought at the same time, I think folks may be getting pellets with a lot of culls. Maybe its just the lighter pellets..who knows, I'll bet the stock folks do ;)
