Title: HW97 K "Beeman Model"?
Post by: wolfman22cal on January 05, 2013, 10:00:27 PM
So what do I have? Its a .20cal hw97k but its stamped Beeman Model on the receiver and has the gold trigger and set screw. I think its from around 1997. Any more or less valuable than a non-Beeman version? Also, after a tune with Macarri spring, seal and fitted guide its clocking in at a whopping 13.4fpe. I thought that was a bit low for a .20cal. I tried 11.42, 13.73, and Kodiak 13.89's. All shooting around the same 13.5 fpe with velocities in the high 600's and low 700's.  Could it be the gun or a bad tune job?  Seriously thinking about a Paul Watts or a vglide tune. Should have done it from the beginning, education is truly expensive......
thanks to all who chime in

Ticked off again,,

Dave

Compared to what a current model in .20 does it's not bad at all...then again when was that spring and seal installed?
If recently...needs time to brake in or the seal is too tight or you put too much tar or ........If done years ago , maybe a freshening  up is order.
After all how much power do you need ? If you enjoy the shooting characteristics of  this Ag in its current state leave it alone.
Too little info and too much worrying.
Compare your numbers...

I'm gonna give my 2ct on this, if it's stamped Beeman and it's a 1997 model year made gun it probably has a 25mm compression tube! the later models have a 26mm tube and will produce more energy! I would suggest you shoot a lighter pellet if you want more velocity ;) as said the 11.4gn H&N FTT's or the 9gn Lasers  :P

Its a 2008 model 26mm tube. Serial 1729890, .20cal.  13.4fpe ain't gonna cut it for me. PW said the compression tube is probably the culprit. The later year models had this problem according to him. Id like at least 15+ for hunting so I'm just going to send it off to Paul. Not the fault of the tuner or the parts (JM seal and spring), just a factory flaw. thanks for the input guys, Ill have a report when it comes back.

BTW-will the spring and seal fit my buddies HW95?
