First off welcome to the GTA family happy to have you aboard. :D Now is there any markings, emblems stamped on it anywhere?. Odd's are that it has a leather piston seal in it and old soy sauce lube. Ed

Welcome, nice to have you with us :)
That old B3-1 should clean up nicely and become a great little shooter with some TLC.. Plenty of info available on cleaning it up and doing a home tune if you want to give it a go..

thats what i though it was , my dad bought it for when i was 13- 20 year ago.It still shoots ok but i would like to clean it up and make it shoot a little faster and put a scope on it .

it's a .177 what can of ammo would be good to try in it? I know ya'll have a lot of experience with these old things.

The pellets you use is going to be trial, and error. Someone else could give you a better idea of the weight. Look into this sampler pack could save you some money http://www.straightshooters.com/straight-shooters-full-pellet-sampler-.177.htmly. I have several B3's, all home tuned and each of them turned out to be great shooters and each have taken their share of small game and pest birds over the years.
As for pellets. One thing I've found in all my B3's is that they all seem to really like the cheaper pointed pellets. Now I am normally not a fan of pointed pellets at all but for some reason my B3's shoot them extremely well. I think it has to do with the lower fps that these guns generate as opposed to the much faster fps of more powerful guns. Whatever the reason all my B3's love the GAMO "magnum" pointed pellets and the GAMO "Master Point" pellets. These 2 pellets won't fly worth a darn in any of my other guns, but in my B3's they fly fantastic. They also perform extremely well on pest birds and small game... and the best part is they are dirt cheap :) Give em a try...... My B3's also like cheap Daisy and crosman wadcutters....

You can use any air gun rated scope you'd like but I wound up putting basic 4x32 scopes on my B3's and they work great for me. My thinking was that the lower power of the guns, compared to standard power guns, would lessen the effective hunting range of the B3's and that a 4x32 should work just fine. I've never regretted my decision. I try to stay within 30 yards when hunting with my B3's and at that range a standard 4x32 scope works just fine for me. If you feel you need more power than I would suggest installing a 3x9x32 with a good mount. You can find some good deals on 4x32 scopes if you look around and you can also find some good deals on variable power scopes as well... it's your choice.

Welcome. Mudmobster I think you said in your first post that the AG does not have a scope rail if that correct than maybe you should look around for someone that's got an used front sight that they be will to sell. I just don't see how to mount a scope on a b3 with out the scope rail/ groove

the sight on it are junk. I was hoping for something better.
