Title: Ordering Nitro Pistons from Crosman ?
Post by: Nomadic Pirate on December 30, 2012, 02:09:17 PM
I'm planning to order some to have as spares for the future,

I want to get one for the Venom and a few for the Trail NP XL/Walther Talon. I'm planning to get more guns powered by that particular piston.

Is the piston itself the only thing I need to order ? can anyone post a link or product #s of what I need ?

Thanks in advance

M

Have you already arranged through them to sell to you direct?  Reason I ask is that PA will not even sell those to you but you have to send your gun in to be converted.

Yes, you can order any part that you need from Crosman including the ram and piston.

So, since I'm completely clueless,...what do I need to order to have ready to install replacements in case a nitro piston fails ?

Just went through it on a Trail NP22. Go to their site and they have links to their breakdowns, I believe they also have the same here on GTA as a stickie. When you call Crossman it really helps to have the part number, my gas ram was 26.00 and the seal 1.78, shipping was a flat 4.00, took all of 5 minutes and I had it in a week. The gas ram comes as a sealed assembly, it's all you need as a spare, good luck.

These are the part numbers for crosman, If only the ram goes out, just order the ram.

Gas Ram =  BT1500-00-2 , Piston = BT1500-02-100, Back Spring Guide = BT1500-00-1 ,
 Rear Adjust Washer = B22-00-8

So basically all I need to order is a few rams and a bunch of seals right ? :)

Just the rams and Washers, seals if needed.

A lot of people replace the stock seal with the Maccari Walther Talon-Hunter-Mag-Turkish seal from Air Rifle Headquarters. It fits the XL. The ram for the Venom (part # BT9M22-00-5) is shorter than the ram for the XL.

That is great Crosman will sell those to you direct.  I never saw these parts listed on their site and with PA wanting you to send the gun in I assumed it was not for consumer purchase alone.  I remember the Trail I had when broke apart had a metal solid flat washer and a guide/seating cap it seems like too.  Been so long since I had it I cannot remember. ;D

You can go to Crosman.com and scroll down to the coustomer service area and download just about any manuel and parts diagram for most of their guns.

Thanks, I still have a couple of those maccari seals but I'll buy a few more, thanks for the part # for the Venom Ram,  now I'll need the one for the XL :) ....anything else ?

I highly recommend Gene's GRS bushing.  It ensures a better fit between the inside of the main piston and the gas ram.  Polish the inside of the main piston. Coat lightly with moly paste on re-assembly. De-burr and polish the inboard side of the shoe of the cocking arm (where it fits in the slot of the main piston).
