Title: Wards Hawthorne / Daisy Model 25
Post by: flattracker23 on December 25, 2012, 09:18:40 PM
I have a Daisy Model 25 that was sold as a Wards Hawthorne. It was made in Rogers, Ark. I have had this gun for as long as I can remember. Anybody know when it was made?

I don't know right off when it was originally made, but my aunt had one back in the mid 1960s. Paw Paw told her to share shootin time with me. She didn't want to. When he wasn't looking, she snatched it away from me. She was a teenager at the time and I was about 6 or so. When I saw an opening, I snatched it back and lit out running. When she started gaining ground on me, I stopped by the old water well. I told her to let me have my turn or I would throw it in. She said that she was fixin to kick my butt and started after me again. So I threw it in and we tied up. Paw Paw had to fish it out. Then he whupped her butt for not sharing and for fighting with me since I was 10 years younger than her. I got off easy and got to go shootin by myself, while she cried and pouted and complained about me always getting my way. That gun was tricky to cock when I was a little boy. But when there's a will, there's a way and I figured it out. We shot that old gun for several years. Don't know what ever became of it.

I got mine as a pass down from a cousin.  That was the mid 1960s.  I know they were made in the mid 1950s.   Keep hold of that handle...I've been fingertip pinched, and it blisters ya!

I had the Curator at the Daisy Airgun Museum date the Model 25. He said it was built in July 1963. I was going to sell it but now I think I will keep it and find somebody to fix it.

Daisy.com...send them serial number.
I do know Daisy moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1958 from Plymouth, Michigan.
