Title: Santa brought my Browning Leverage!
Post by: kmiJ on December 25, 2012, 07:53:22 PM
The good news is my wife got me the Leverage for Christmas like I wanted...the BAD news is she ordered a 177 instead of .22 cal. I still love her... :D I dont have any 177 pellets to even try the gun which not worthy! I opened it up to inspect it and I'm kinda disappointed in the shape of the thing...the rear pin that holds the mainspring in is all scratched up and other scratchs in the blueing. Also pressure scratches on the stock. Looks like its been messed with. I sighted down the barrel with the iron sights and it acts like the sights are way off. I took a string and hooked over front site and pulled tight back to the rear of the scope mounts and it was way to the right. Have to see if it shoots ok with iron sights...if not I guess its gotta go back. Kinda disappointed....I'll keep you posted how it goes.

Please do, these are generally well regarded underlever rifles (especially for the price point). Sorry  to here about the cosmetic blemishes but those can be sorted out.

Went to Wally world today and got some CPHP pellets...it was them or destroyers which I have never used. The string trick was a great idea on my part I must say as at 10 yards it shot five shots in a dime size group. I was Impressed! Went upstairs and mounted the scope then back to the basement. After about ten shot or so sighting in the scope it shot the groups of five shots in the pic... So far am VERY happy! This gun is big and heavy but dont care. If the Zombies come I can club them to death....lol... All I did was clean the barrel with Goo-Gone and tighten the stock screws, which were loose. As I had heard it was very crunchy at first but got better with use. I think I shot about 70 pellets over all and its still dieseling. Gotta say for a gun in this price range its nice, kinda crude as far as esthetics but makes up for it in how it shoots. Here is a pick of some of my last 5 shot groups from 30 feet.

Sweet... are you going to keep it as .177?
I just picked one up as well, it's my new years present to me.
I found it gritty as you did, and am encouraged you say it will smooth out with usage.
