Title: Most accurate Chinese springer?
Post by: Bently71 on December 24, 2012, 07:52:09 AM
Bases on personal experience what are the most accurate chinese springers? Either out of the box or with a tune?   Break barrel or fixed?

Is this question on Chinese spring rifles that are on the market now?  Or just any Chinese gun?

My B-21 ... but it isn't 100% Chinese anymore. I've got an o-ring piston, Vortek spring kit and Lothar Walther barrel on it.

Here is a 45 yard 5 shot group before I touched up the POI ...

Benjamin is supposed to come out with a B40 rebadged as a Mav77.  Been about a year since it was introduced at a shot show.  It may come out about March 2013 maybe not who knows.  Then would have to wait for reviews may take another 6 months for that.  I know you want personal experience so you may want to check the GTA search engine and look for a B26 break barrel.  From what it seems from owners they tend to hold on to those rifles.  My guess the high points of these rifles are they have good triggers.  The B40 has cloned TX200 trigger and the B26 has a cloned Rekord trigger.

true but I don't think the new version is gonna have the TX type trigger in it! I've seen some pix of the new version and they have changed the trigger. :-\ :P

Ok so if I was too have to choose between a good used CFX, that I found on here for $159 or a 46 fully tuned from Flying Dragon at $199 what would u go with?   The CFX Also has a cdt trigger and scope.

Well that's prolly because its discontinued and they sold the last one before taking a pic? Lol!   Pricy when it was available.  I'm cheap.   My goal here is too get an accurate springer for squirrel slayin!   My Gamo Big Cat is ok but just not the most accurate beast.  I'm thinking a tune up will help which is on my to do list.   And will prolly be there a while.

So the Mav77 is discontinued even before it hit the market.  That is good to know.

I've owned a .177 CFX for years now, and for accuracy, you'll be hard pressed to beat it, even if you go to the TX or HW.   With the CDT trigger, I think it's a very good price.  I did not like the slow .22 CFX. Didn't like the TF99 China gun either.... But I won't sell my .177 CFX!  Sweet Shooter.

Bullit, I believe you just made my decision for me.  I like that kind of testimonial.  I'm looking at two different ones for sale online.  If either is still available Friday (payday) ill be a new CFX owner.

The answer for me is probably my .22 tuned B26 using. The scope is a Nikko Stirling Gold Crown Airking 4x12x42. Not an expensive scope by any means, but perfect for the job.
Matters are helped with a replacement Weihrauch trigger blade (drilled to take the slightly fatter axis pin) so I have a proper 2 stage trigger that can be held on a knife edge, before release.
Delrin top hat, spring guide & a Maccari Small Apex piston seal smooth out the action. This is a UK spec' shooter so you may not be familiar with such as a Titan XS mainspring, which isn't cheap but is just a quality item (Swedish Chrome Vanadium spring steel with a ptfe coating)
I also have a .22  B25 in a thumbhole stock in an identical state of tune (
identical to the Ruger Airhawk Elite) & using JSB Exact pellets is extremely accurate, but the trigger isn't  nearly as "sophisticated" as a B26 but pretty good all the same. Also using the same Nikko scope (but with IR on this one). It was cheaper to buy as a B25 & add a decent scope than buy it as a Ruger that comes with an average scope & cheesy mounts.

I would take a wild guess that the BS-4 would be it.
It is a clone of the FWB-300 target rifle.
I do not know if it is still in production.

I own a BS4, and it is brilliant.
I own a TF 78 and can plink asprin all day

If you want accurate ... those.

If you need power, there are other considerations.

I am guessing the BS4 is still in production because it is listed on the Shanghai airgun website.  I think they are expensive compared to the usual Chinese springers and the U.S. market is more for cheap Chinese springers with a lot of fps.  Don't quote me on this but I think I read the BS4 needs to be approved to be shot in certain sanctioned competitions.

I wish both the 78 and the B4 were still available.   I'd love to have a good side lever but I refuse to pay $500+ for a Rws 48 or 54.  Maybe someday but right now I have a Gamo Cfx underlever on the way so that should keep me from molesting my bank account for awhile.

You made a good choice on the CFX.  Now you have a good,  competition accurate 12FPE shooter.   Keep your eyes peeled, and a nice 48 might come up that you can get for your power shooter.

Thanks buddy.  My Cfx is in the mail as I type.  It's coming from Texas.  I can't wait.  It's funny because I actually went to the Colorado School of Trades for gunsmithing back in 1991.  I've owned just about every gun u can think of over the years.  I've had 300 Winchester magnum bolt action rifles I've built myself.  For awhile I collected .308 battle rifles.   My favorite being my H&K 91.   But I can't believe how excited I am waiting for this Gamo.  I've had more fun hunting squirrels with airguns than you can imagine.  Great hobby.

From my hunting adventures the B26.177 is a high quality springer for a good price. Any member that has glanced over my hunt's with the B26.177 own two know that it holds it's own against critters like Bandit's and C-rat's. I feel that the B26 platform is best served in .177 caliber though the .22's are fine but can be a tad slow on the fps. Out of the box they are impressive being a R9 clone and a tune really brings out the best in them. Ed

You can still get the 78s from Mike M. at Flying Dragon or Steven Archer at Archer Air

Just got an email from flying dragon and his prices are really low.  Now I'm drooling.   And crunching numbers to see if I have room in my budget?

I think you made a pretty good choice, both with the type of gun and buying from the classifieds.  I think most of the guns in the classifieds, at least on GTA, are from tinkerers that either got bored ot soured on a gun- but the bugs have been worked out and they are good shooters.  All the guns I've had to let go were very accurate and functioned properly, all had fresh piston seals and lubed properly with JM lubes at a minimum.  Of course a couple dings in the stocks, scratch or two in the metal work but functioned flawlessly.  I think that is pretty much what you can expect when you buy someone's personal shooter.  Just keep an eye out for trustworthy guys letting guns go cheap to fund the next project or whatever, and you really can't go wrong.
