Title: Benjamin SS(springer) barrel replacing.
Post by: Alex1956 on October 31, 2010, 01:30:17 PM
Hi,everybody! I`m Alex, new on this forum.Glad to join your community!
Sorry for my English,but I have 2 question.  ;D
1. I have got Benjamin SS(spring) in .177 as a gift. But I`d like to replace this barrel by .22 caliber.Could someone tell me-what kind of barrel and from which airgun will fit to my rifle? Maybe you can give me links if somebody done that before?
2. question to ezman604 -where I can see all your modifications for Benjamin SS
and how you have done it? I think it`s  the grate experience for me!!!
Thanks a lot to everyone for replying!! and suggestion!
Alex

First, Welcome Alex to the GTA glad your here!!! As Jman said go to the Crosman site an look under the pdf. for the SuperStreak, I would order "all" the part's needed to replace the whole barrel set up(good luck on getting the break) then write all the part #'s down an call them at 1-800-724-7486 an place your order. Sound's like you might be out of the U.S. so I'm not sure what the shipping will be but all the part's for your project run around $50.
P.S. Might as well get you a spring an ram/seal(come as one part #) while your at it unless you want too upgrade them?

Thank you,guys!
I`m in Florida.I`ve  read in some posts that Crosman will send parts after 1 year of usage of the gun,it`s mean after warranty period!
So,how I can order all parts, what I have to say them?
Also, sorry, but I have no idea, what it is- RAM?
I`m new in airgun field!
Alex.

That is O.K. Alex we all start some where. First did not mean to throw you, the ram is the piston that move's forward compressing the air.  As for ordering the part's for one(Super Streak 1500) they will ask no question's as it has been out on the market for awhile. But do know that even changing your barrel WILL void your warranty on your gun. I would suggest Bro. that you maybe study an learn more from this great place before even doing a barrel change let alone attemping to open one up to work on spring's an seal's(sorry I mentioned them)as these gun's work under very high pressure's an can hurt you fast. So be SAFE,learn all you Can, an enjoy your new sport.

Hey Alex and welcome to GTA Forums.
Swapping the caliber on the SS is simply getting the barrel from Crosman and bolting it in place. IF they still have any SS barrels available. You will also need all of the pieces parts like the muzzle break, front sight, lockup pin, spring, and pivot spacer to hold the lockup in place. You will also need a breach seal and rear sight. Or, you can order the raw barrel and take all the pieces from the .177 barrel. Either way, go to crosman.com and download the parts manual. Make a list of the parts you want and give them a call.
As far as what I've done to mine, there's a long list. I don't think I have a list of the posts so you may have to do a forum search for Benjamin Super Streak and my user name. But basically, I got both barrels and swapped mine to .22. I had a custom shroud made for my gun by a fellow forum member joeblow. I also converted it to gas RAM with the help of another fellow member LongIslandArcher. Personally, I'd keep it as a springer, it has as much power and is almost as smooth a shooter with a spring.
And it's not that the warranty expires in a year, it's that spare parts are not made available until an airgun has been on the market for roughly a year.
Again welcome. Post often and post pictures.
Happy Shooting!!!!
Dave

I've sent a message to someone that MIGHT have a used SS .22 barrel for sale. I'll let you know as soon as he replies. Another option is wait a few more weeks till barrels for the Benjamin Trail NP XL1100 become available. You could use one of those but you will need all of the attached parts also. Be sure to get the front sling mount (among the other pieces parts) if/when you order. I'm waiting for these to also be available so I can order a spare. :)

Had no intention of being mean or a hater there Friend(really can't see how you took it that way)? Was just telling you what it is. If you want to know they are sometime's called a swivel mount also if they move/rotate.

Wow I really need to go threw parts and compare from brand to brand Im going to be really screwed up if Im ot on same page as everyone else.

I can see what you were doing Tripmine, The diagram that Mr. Dave put up is for the XL's(don't think it's on crosman site yet) an you were looking at the part's list for a Super Streak. If you search back a couple page's you will find it posted by him when a member had gotten a hold of the exploded diagram for us. Hope this help's you out some.  P.S. Page 8
