I recently learned about the 1077. From a fun standpoint, I like the semi auto idea. I've read they're fairly accurate for what they are (cheap air rifle).
I also considered the QB series in the past. I ended up coming to the conclusion that after the cost and time involved with mods, I was better off just getting a Discovery and that's what I did.
I had it and sold it (didn't like the pump having to be constantly repaired and figured it was too much cash into it for what it was). My Gamo shoots more accurately (it's a great shooter).
Now I have a 20# CO2 tank (Been making root beer) and have considered getting a CO2 gun again.
So QB or the 1077? I figure I'll mod either of them to bulk fill and any other mods as needed. I like the idea of semi auto in the 1077. I wonder if one wins in accuracy.
Side note question: I was a member here about 2 years ago (Seems like the forum was green at that point and there was already a link to "Old GTA" at that point. I didn't log in for a year maybe and my username was said to not exist. Not too big of a deal but I'd like to have a record to my old posts if they still exist. Any ideas why my username would be gone?

The 1077 is fun little blinker but can be a little moody. Personally I'd go for the already bulk mod QB78 from Mike http://flyingdragonairrifles.org/industry_qb79.html (http://flyingdragonairrifles.org/industry_qb79.html)

I don't think there is any real comparison between the 1077 (a fun plinker but not well finished and certainly not high on the accuracy scale) and the QB78 (very well fitted and finished and excellent accuracy). While mods are certainly available for the QB78, they are not essential for fun, accurate shooting. Yeah, the QB is only a single shot versus the 1077 semi-auto but I would much rather shoot accurately than shoot a lot. YMMV.
I don't believe there is a better value in airguns today than the QB78. Fit, finish and accuracy are well beyond it's price point.

May be a bit biased, but I'd vote the QB any day. Plus from having my crosman revolver, I can say I enjoy the single-shot of my QB a lot more than loading a clip w/ pellets, loading the clip into the rifle, firing thru the clip in no time and having to repeat the whole process. Even buying spare clips (think I have 7 for my 357) just meant I shot thru them that much faster and had just that much longer of a re-loading period.
With that said tho, it is pretty fun to just fire off the rounds as fast as I can pull the trigger... but w/ co2, the cool down (er... warm up) period between shots certainly helps consistency. I find the time it takes me to load up the pellet and get into position is just about on par with my wait between shots anyway.

NO comparison. QB hands down in everything from build quality to potential.

Those who have already posted have pointed out most of the virtues that make the QB78 a no-brainer over the Crosman. Let me add that while the 1077 has a large number of excellent and dedicated tuners, they start with a platform that just can't match the sophistication of what a well tuned QB78 can do. Check out ^&$@_=s for a small sample of what can be done.

Also the 1077 has a double action trigger which rotates the magazine. The QB78 has more tunable and adjustable trigger.

Yeah! It's one of those strange things where if you spend more money, you get a better gun.
There's one for sale here now for $30. You won't find a better bang for the buck.
