I once shot a mosquito.

And I once shot a large owl (very sickly and diving at people and their pets).

I think this should be broken up into two different categories :

(1) "Standard" - .177, .20, .22, & .25 calibers

(2) "Big Bore" - Anything larger than .25 caliber

Smallest and able to do it over and over ..... YELLOW JACKETS

My buddy & I when out M/C camping ( Pull a trailer ) we pack our .177 springers.
Late summer when the YJ's are out in force we have many times been cooking with the bees being a PITA, so will put out some food scrap or meat juice on the fringe of camp.  Set back in the lawn chairs and have at it blasting Yellow jackets at 10-15 yards !!   ;D

Largest .... not saying nothing  :P

Red ants or house flies will be the smallest.

As for the largest, a pink elephant. (if I told you, I would have to shoot you to keep it a secret) ;)

There used to be a life sized statue of a pink elephant outside of a car dealership what people around her consider the "automile" a long strip of highway with car dealerships side by side. Is this the elephant!?!?!? because it's not there anymore!

Might have been. I don’t remember much about that night. I was “loading” up most of the day.

I do remember that it was windy. I had three sheets to the wind.
