After missing chipper #16 today I was on watch and this Grackle flew in and was headed toward the Catbird bush, (Same spot as the chipper) Loaded a RWS SHP in the 850 and let it fly aiming for center mass and she ( I think its a she as of the color) dropped with just a little wing shutter. Nice shot Dave! I hate those birds but love seeing them taking dirt naps like in your pic, hehehe.
They do nothing but attack the song birds on my property and kill their young. I try and shoot a Grackle every chance I get but they hang out too far and too close to the neighbor's, because they 've learned that if they get any closer they 'll get some lead. All I have to do is show up at the window (window closed) and they walk even farther away from 45 to 55yds, or just take off. They are not stupid, which is what makes them so dangerous and allows them to bully the other birds.
