If I already have a power adjuster, why would I need a heavier spring, and vice versa?

I think the heavier spring will up the fps and help at shooting heavier pellets.

If you use both a heavy spring and a power adjuster you will definitely be looking at filling past 2000 psi.... Read up on beefing up the valve screws for safety.... I never fill past the top of the yellow on the gauge (~2400 psi).... however I'm not recommending YOU do that....

Joe, I use a heavy spring without the power adjuster; can't tell you where she chronies but I shoot the 18.13 Jsb's. I only fill to 1730-1750 and shoot down to 1200 getting approximately 13.3 psi per shot which gives me 41 rounds in the sweet spot. It will shoot 100 rounds on a fill from 2000-800 but a lot of those shots are wasted not being in the sweet spot. Wasted for me is outside a 1/2 inch and mine has a double tube, hence, more shots.
