Since replacement parts for Hatsan guns are mythical creatures I decided to try and find an alternative breech seal for my Torpedo. Its seal is a combination of a steel washer on the port followed by a nylon washer , and then a rubber washer that the barrel seats against. So I found myself in the plumbing section of the local hardware store and picked up a few rubber washers that looked like they might be suitable for this task. Found that one that I picked out was perfect outside diameter and thickness. But heres the possible issue : the inside diameter on the possible replacement is smaller than the original , but still large enough to see the edge of the port from the compression chamber . I'm thinking this should be O.K. because it doesn't restrict the size of the port. I dont want to just put it in and shoot it without knowing if this might cause a problem , or improve the performance of the gun so its time to check with the experts that have more experience than this newbie.

Update :
Took it out and tried it with this new hardware store breech seal and it works better than perfect. I don't have a chrony but it is immediately apparent that the gun has gained velocity AND is also grouping noticably better. A 49 cent rubber washer and its a totally different rifle. Leads me to believe the factory seal wore out pretty fast and wasn't doing its job properly, contributing to the accuracy issues I've been having. if anybody is interested I will find the manufacturer and part number and post it.
