I am looking into buying an Mrod in .25 but I see the rain storm too on pyramyd it says rainstorm has a loudness of 4 or medium while the Mrod is showing 2 or low but I read somewhere that the rainstorm is quieter than the Mrod?
It is going to be a hunting rig and i need the Quietest possible due to where I will be hunting
Anyone own both guns and shot them side by side to say if one is truly quieter?

Judging from stuff I've read; the Marauder is most definitely the quieter of the two (in stock form). But the Rainstorm has the edge in power.

My Rainstorm .22 sounded louder when shooting it than my Maurader .25 but when I stepped in front of the guns and someone else was shooting, the Maurader was louder.
Both guns at that stage where bone stock not even depinged

Yeah, and they list the Maurader at 7 1/2 Pounds too :) :) .......now that's a laught, LOL the Maurader is more like a 9 pounder ;)

Yes with a scope the Marauder might as well be a M-1 Garrand.

Well gun weight isnt an issue for me
I am 6'1" 260 LBS
I dont mind carrying a hefty gun around
And mostly it is short walks to where I a calling predators anyways
Heck
When I go snowshoeing for predator calling I bring my Rem 1187, My TCencore pistol in .223 my Ruger MKIII hunter .22 LR
My lanyard with 9 hand calls
My GPS and spare batts
My Foxpro and spare batts
My electronic Decoy and Spare batts
LOL
And I put on 6-10 miles a day when I am doing this kind of hunting

The newer rainstorms have the shorter shroud than the versions Manmy and I had. It was a fair comparison with the longer shroud but the shorter shroud versions have a pretty good snap to them. Had Evanix not gone to the new shroud (never understood why they did) then the rainstorm would be the better choice.

I have the new version in 22 and appreciate the short carbine length of the gun. A coupe of extra inches really does make a difference of how the gun handles in the brush, I have to believe this is what Evanix had in mind when shortening the shroud. As for the noise, I don't have a Marauder to compare but the the Rainstorm is a 50+ fpe gun so some more noise is to be expected. I have heard that Will Piatt's shroud internals upgrade makes a huge difference in the noise level with out lengthening the gun.
I see 4 major differences and 2 minor.
Major
1) FPE
2) Side lever
3) Nice stock
4) Construction
Minor:
4) Weight
5) Noise level

Yes, I love my Rainstorm :)

Both of Wills Internals and Depinger quiet down them Rainstorms significantly, well worth investment

I would do it but my Rainstorm is shooting so good I don't want to mess with it. :)

Well I went with an Mrod
Not a factory one
It is all tricked out already

Will post pics and groups ETC when she gets here!
