Title: INTEGRABASE 'V' for Vintage Benjamin and Sheridan rifles and pistols.....
Post by: BALLISTIC1 on October 06, 2012, 06:48:13 PM
For those who have been patiently waiting...  I got 20 INTEGRABASE 'V' model bases back from the machinist yesterday! These bases should fit almost all of the Vintage Benjamin and Sheridan rifles and pistols... The INTEGRABASE 'V' accepts both 11mm dovetail and Weaver style rings.. I am putting the finishing touches on these bases and should have some available to ship out on Monday.. Thanks! Greg

Greg will this mount work on a Benjamin 412? I have a friend that needs the barrel re-soldered on his 412. and this mount would replace a jury-rigged one on the gun now.

For some strange reason from what I have been able to determine the breeches on both Vintage Benjamin's and Sheridan's are almost identical in dimension... I am pretty sure that the Vintage base will work for your friend..
In case you didn't realize or notice this base is attached  in two different ways... First the screws in the front of the base act on brass shims that evenly distribute pressure to the barrel without leaving marks, and the rear screws grab the breech in front of the loading port to help distribute load into the breech which is more securely attached to the pump tube... One of the determining factors is the barrel diameter. If I am guessing right the 412 is .22 cal. If the barrel is approximately .350" in diameter, the breech approximately 1/2" wide and about 2 3/4" long it should work... I am under the impression the the older .177 cal rifles had barrels of a smaller diameter, approximately .315"-.320", I am not positive if the current shims will work correctly on the smaller diameter barrels or not..... If I don't have a production base for the 412 there is a chance I can come up with something custom.... Greg

your correct the 412 is .22cal, I did notice the way the mount attaches to the gun. I also noticed you didn't have the front ring attached to your mount  ;-) I'll pass the information on to my friend. and thanks for your reply.

I am so embarrassed! I figured that out when I went to crop my photo's. Thank you for looking so closely at m;y base that you noticed !!!! The gun in the picture is stripped down for reseal. It is the only gun that I have that the Vintage base fits so it was that one or none... I was in a hurry to get the new photo's posted,  I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD NOTICE! But was too lazy to walk out and take another.. Greg

hey-Hey!!!,
How do your 'V' mounts clear the earlier flat top and ribbed top recievers on the older rifles? I bet the three styles have the same width, but the flat and ribbed look like they've got bits that stick out past the round profile of the late-model 'C' series. They certainly have bits that stick out past the round profile of the C9 style.
cheers,
Douglas

Doug, I don't have a flat top or crew cut rifle to actually try the base on myself.... I do have it from a reliable source that my 'V' base fits and works on the flat top. I do have some photo's of the base and the breech I will see if I can round them up.. The base you have IS the base that the Vintage base is made out of.. I have removed about .060" from the tight part of the keyhole and added the mounting screw holes.. Good luck with yours... Greg

hey-Hey!!!,
Some material removal was required to clear the top of the breech on my flat top. As I type the epoxy is curing. It also now finally occurs to me that I should have taken a picture, but it is now a wee bit late...grrr. Fit is excellent, and I plan to mount a light scope to it shortly. This light scope will likely be the Simmons 44 Mag at less than 12 oz( claimed ), complete with side focus in 6-21 magnification and Mil dot reticle. Really looking forward to next FT season...:)
cheers,
Douglas

hey-Hey!!!,
here are some pix of my 1973 Blue Streak with the INTEGRABASE mounted. No screws were used; 2-part epoxy in J-B Weld flavour were used to secure it. I think it is effectively permanent...:) Had to take special care not to have the stuff running all over; spread it carefully on the mount and reciever bits of the rifle, then wipe/scrape off the excess as it oozed out. I used the Weaver rail, an some Leapers mounts on a 3-9x32 Golden Image.
cheers,
Douglas
