The GTA library has all the tuning procedure and lube recommendations that you can go to and keep as reference while you're doing it.   Check it Out.

pretty straight forward tune, imo the best setup to learn on, as far as the trigger goes Mike M with send you one with the 2nd trigger mod for $15 as long as you send him your old trigger, good luck you will love the rifle after the pg2 tune

If you have any Cycle shops near you the 1oz tubes of pure moly are about $6.00
Just watch out for the stuff with graphite in it,MSDS info isnt hard to find.

Good Luck on the build

well just got finished with the tune and it was really simple to do as long as you have the right tools. the new spring was a lit bit longer than the stock one but figured that original one was broke in . i was really shocked to see barely any grease anywhere in the tube or spring. guess that why it felt like it was grinding a lit bit when cocking. took the new spring lubed it lightly and same with piston. added new seal as well and deburred the tube.  cocking this gun is ultra smooth seems like its hitting nicely. will know more tomorrow when i shoot it at 20 yard range in the back yard.

will i spent half the day shooting pellets to break the new spring in and have found that i will need heavier pellets. heaviest pellet i have is the rws superdomes 8.3g that grouped at 1" at 10m with open sights. all the rest looked like i was shooting a shot gun :/ . so im going to order 4 tins of heavier pellets and see how they group will post my findings .

Jim,
1" groups at 10m with open sights seems pretty good, I was getting about 1/2" at 25yds with a scope, using the RWS superdomes (8.3gr).  I don't have anything heavier to try.  Are you going to put a scope on it?

thanks
John

before the tune i was getting 1/2" groups with cphp now its all over the place with them. i still need to order more pellets as im out of the superdomes so i figured it will not hurt to get some heavies with my next order. i have a leapers 4-16x40 AO scope i can put on it but i need a one peace mount. i really want to get a leapers UTG 3-9x32 AO Compact CQB Bug Buster Rifle Scope but they are out of stock till the 22nd.

Did you try calling Leapers direct?
Paul is a pretty good guy and they dont gouge you on shipping like the others

I had the Leaper 4-16x40 AO on it initially, but then I converted it to a .22 and moved that scope to one of my other guns.  For now I put a 3-9x30mm (non-AO) scope that came with my Hatsan Striker 1000x.  It works and is light but at I don't like the non-AO.  Still getting better than 1/2" groups with the .22 barrel at 25yrds with HN FTTs.

@ Tommy, interesting about calling Leapers directly, never thought about it.

thanks
John

My Airhawk liked the boxed CPL Domes (7.9gr), but not the CPHP's.  If you have some and haven't tried that standby pellet yet, you might give them a whirl.  I also noted you lubed your seal.  You may have some initial dieseling to get past in addition to waiting for the tune to settle in if more grease than normal from the seal movement might have been left past the seal after the tune?

there no dieseling for i didnt put moly on the front side of piston just on the side to assist in the installing. so far i have shot 300+ pellets and seems to be calming down i little. Going to Wal-Mart to get few more tins of CPHP and test accuracy. i figure that few 100 more shots is due and she should be good to go.

will order 4 tins of random pellets and see what happens. i hope i can find a pellet that will shoot well. i have been thinking on replacing barrel with a .22 cal but i really want to keep this one at .177 . i really need a crony will have to get one soon.

How did you know gracious!!!!!!!!! :o ??? ;)

well i found out some bad news. i went out and shot another 50 pellets . while i was shooting i noticed that my scope has some parallax error to it  :'(. so i reduced the magnification down to x6 and bam i get dime size groups . well I will make a call to leapers tomorrow and see what they can do .

By your trigger pull.  Can't blame that on the scope. ;)
90% shooter    No problems, you'll get better w/practice.

well thats wrong my trigger pull is like 1.2 pounds . i went out to shoot some more and the ir has gone on while in off position(removed battery :() . also its shooting all over the place again. also i removed the scope and shot it from open sights with 1/2" groups at 10m. so i would say scope is busted.

I like the video and sound track.  Too bad about the scope.  Swapping the .22 barrel was not bad if you decide to go that way.  A couple of things I came across when I did mine:
 - the pin for the breech linkage has a c-clip on it (I didn't realize it and knocked it out and had to replace it)
 - my breech seal on the .22 barrel assembly was low and caused an air leak (crony numbers were all over the place and toilet paper over breech area showed air escaping), I cut a plastic shim out of a plastic milk jug, ~ 0.01" thick and shimmed it up a bit, works fine now.

thanks,
John

If your first knuckle remains straight and only the second knuckle bends your trigger pull is straight back
Otherwise your dragging your pull,as seen in your vid thats grouping to the right  ;D

FriedTater in the video i was adjusting as i was shooting i edited the long pauses out. also if i didnt hold rifle tight it would shoot all over so artillery wasn't going to work. i think that once i got that figured out the scope started to do its thing. i forgot to mention earlier this week i was breaking in the tune by shooting cheap pellets through it (500 pellets worth). while doing that i was having issues with stock screws not holding from recoil (yes they had locktite). had to get lock washers to aid and once that was fixed while shooting these cheap pellets the UTG mount snapped so had to replace it. this should give you an idea of the recoil thats being applied here. but thanks for the info

I took an informal Sniper training class when I broke into 1000+yd PB ranks
Never realized how sloppy my pull was till a seasoned Vet worked his magic on my indexer
Glad your other issues are minimal and easily corrected,it will make it just that more rewarding
when your done.

i do know that some of its is finger pull thats why i do such long shot strings to see how many hit where im aiming and see how many go way off where im aiming. this is just the tweaking game i get to play every time i want to perfect gun. had to do this with the Titan and got it where i like it, if i do my part it will do 1 ragged holes . scope also has 1.5-2 inch parallex   error at 10x  i can do everything right but if im not looking through that scope perfectly everytime i shoot its going to change poi. it gets frustrating and sry if some mite take me wrong i dont mean no disrespect if i have done so.

btw i shot over 500 pellets to day :-\
