Title: 26" discovery barrels
Post by: 1377x on October 04, 2012, 03:01:50 AM
a year or two i posted about 26" benji disco barrels.they are made for the UK & EU market.the extra 2" is for the mounting of devices that are not a taboo subject over there and still be able to fill the gun without having to remove the device.the last time i looked at the extralong barrels one a .22 and the other the non-existent .177,it supposedly doesnt exist but i can say i have actually held and looked at both barrels.
the early barrels had no rifling none not a little not the last 1-2 inches none zero confirmed by the seller who has been in business for a very long time.
well i got to look at a new shipment of the 26" barrels and now they have some nice deep rifling.i dont like having to remove my end device when filling this barrel will elimate that.for the extra 2" the price of the barrel more than doubles but for the extra added convenience it just seems to be worth it.once everything is set it stays no more worry about i just removed this for the hundredth time hope my pellet doesnt clip
i'm going to pick one .22 barrel up next week and run some tests

can you get them non-threaded for use with a TKO?  would that even be worth the trouble?

they come non threaded,
most UK owner's use the threaded crosman barrel adapters

cool, the disco is on my short list of AGs to get.  i wonder if +2" would boost vel. in a stock disco.

i doubt it most increases are 10fps for inch maybe a gain of 20fps maybe 30fps max
the extra 2" is really so it can be filled without having to remove anything except the fill cap

Can you source them in the US or did you have one shipped from UK?

On a stock Disco, the expected gain in velocity with a 26" barrel would be 10-11 fps over a 24" with 14.3 gr pellets.... The more the gun is modified (ie higher FPE), the more the gain should be.... However, even at twice the stock FPE level and using heavy pellets (ie 45 FPE), the extra 2" should only result in about a 20 fps gain....

The part number I have is 6-2261-001   That is the number that showed up about a year or so ago.  I don't know if is is a good number.  Had listed as 26" .22 caliber.

I like the idea of having a 26" barrel available except, that for my purposes, I prefer to keep the rifle as short as possible...I've already added 5" with the thing on the end which is almost tolerable; another two inches and I'd be dragging the barrel in the dirt.

I do like the idea of the fill nipple being out of the way...that alone would be worth it.
