Title: Let's see your 2240's.
Post by: 2nd RCHA on September 25, 2012, 06:43:08 PM
You know, The 2240 has to be one of my favourite shooter's, It's versatility, compactness, and modibility has to be second to none. I know that they're not power houses, but they are accurate, and with a well placed shot the lacking there of in the m/v dept,. will soon become an after-thought. Here are a few pic's of my creation's,,The first is a 2240 I converted to .177 with a 10.1 inch Lothar Walther barrel, trigger shoe, custom camo 1399 rear stock, and lastly an M8 3.5-10 w/ integrated laser, topped off w/ one of "Larry's" ported muzzle brake's.
The second is a 2240 w/ a .177 Crosman steel breech, a Crosman 24" barrel,1399 rear stock, a Tasco 2-6x32 AOE, and topped off w/ one of "Larry's" 16-hole ported m/b's.
Third is a 2240, with a Crosman steel breech, a 24" barrel, 1399 rear stock,BSA Contender "Sweet 17" 3-12x40 A/O, w/ a "Larry" ported Carbon Fiber brake to finish it off, So there it is, Let's see some of your Creation's. Thank's & Cheer's, Andy.

Thank's for the post's & pic's,, It's really nice seeing all of your set-ups, I especially like the pic with the 2240 w/ shroud. The m/v for my shooters are pretty good considering,, the first one,2240 w/ the Lothar Walther 10.1" is 575fps w/a  7.3gr Crosman SuperPoint producing 5.3 ft/lbs,but, I have to add that it's one heck of an accurate piece of kit, I can stack rounds one on top of the other at 10-15M(w/ Crosman SuperPoint's, (which are this a/g's favourite choice of round), the .177 2240 w/a 24" barrel gives me 680fps w/a 7.3gr Crosman SuperPoint producing 7.5 ft/lbs, and lastly my favourite 2240, this one's had a little more work done on it, I enlarged the transfer port a tad, and a little valve work was done. so it gives me 680 w/ a 15.9gr Jumbo Straton producing a whopping 16.09 ft/lbs, LOL, But, Hey it gets the job done, ;), but as you can see, what a difference between the two calibers,,I'd like to see a 2240 switched up to .25, probably won't be super fast but it'll hit like a Joe Frazier round house right, 8),, I want to thank "Cordero" for the heads up on the barrel band,,Scopes & Ammo, up here in Ontario has to have one of the best after-market selections in Crosman specialty parts I've ever seen, http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/index.php/airgun-parts-custom-service-c-38 (http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/index.php/airgun-parts-custom-service-c-38) ,and they do offer a black anodized barrel band for the 2289/1322, http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php/solid-black-anodized-barrel-band-for-crosman-13892289-p-424 (http://scopesandammo.com/storefront/product_info.php/solid-black-anodized-barrel-band-for-crosman-13892289-p-424) ,which I'll try out,,,,,and then I'll post some pics & stats once it's complete,,,I can't wait,,I think a 1322 w/a 24" barrel, along with the flat-top piston already installed should give me numbers comparable to my modded 2289, if not better, :o,,, One more bit of info that I'd like to add is that Crosman barrels(other than the 10.1" Lothar Walther barrel)are very light in the Land's & Groove's dept,. so try and use a soft skirted pellet w/ a larger diameter head as possible, As I mentioned in a previous post,JSB's,AirArms Falcon's,and Daisys(Not the old ones, the new Daisy's have a changed design, with the skirt being sloped to the head, much like a Crosman Premier round, and they're not black anymore, quite shiny, and with good quality control,These sure aren't your Pop's Daisy's,,I urge you all to give them one last try, You won't be dissapointed, Trust me), also give FX Smooth-Twist pellets a try, they're not as heavy as the JSB Monsters, but with the same design , ;)IMHO,Pairing a JSB Jumbo Straton with any Crosman Barrel regardless of size will get the most out of your shooterhope this helps, and Once again, Thank's for the pic's, and posts. The-y-r-r-e Great!, Cheer's, Andy.

I noticed that some of the pictures with scope mounts look to use high mount rings, scope mounted as far back as possible.  I use this scheme to overcome the 16 inch LOP of the stock, on my 2400kt 18in bbl I use this with a Leapers fixed 4 power.

On my 2240 I prefer an NC STAR 2.5x30 pistolero long eye relief, with high mounts mounted forward.

I use 3 different sighting systems for my 22xx guns, 4x32 Leapers, UTG R/G dot, and 2.5x30 pistelero.  I am always swapping out different sights on the guns just for fun.

NO PICTURES old guy doesn’t do pictures, sorry.

Here's mine.  Purchased a stock 2240 from Pyramyd air.  I had an 18" then 14.5" and now a 12" Crosman barrel that i purchased from Mellon air (which he re-crowns), a BNM repeater breech, BNM power adjuster, Hi-pac HPA mod with 1 extension, Hi-pac heavy hammer spring, TKO muzzle break, I pinned the valve and did some valve mods, and added an extra handle for the bolt so it's easier to cock with the heavier spring.

You guys have me hooked!  I just got into this seriously a few months ago.  I've had a Benjamin 392 for about 20 years but that's all I've had until a few months back when i discovered this site. Now I can't stop modding this thing and the 2400KT i purchased from the Crosman custom shop - that one is my carbine.

Nice!..That's going to be a nasty little PCP. You doing any valve work to jack the power up to M-Rod status?I was able to break 900 fps with mine."14.3 grain pellet..."nothing exceptional as that was done with a 24" barrel"....stock valve by the way.
Title: Re: Let's see your 2240's.
Post by: MustangMike on September 27, 2012, 02:10:39 AM
17in barrel 925-950 fps with 21gr .22 pellets, sooner or later it will be double tubed just because 3 shots at 2400psi well thats a lot of refilling. lol.. but odds are its going to be ran off 3000psi fills

but thats all the details im giving out, this carbine has been a work in progress since Feb so im not spilling any more details or showing any more teaser pictures. once i get it back it will been shipped out at some point to another member here for a good video review of it and its shooting abilities..

it was built for snakes, at my families lake house the lake hasnt been up to full capacity for many many many years. when you go fishing your walking 75 yards or more across dry lake bed. ive had a few moccasins stand their ground and actually come after me when i have had the bad lucky to come across them while fishing.. so i can fill the carbine, load a pellet and not cock it. then sling it over my back and go fishing. if a snake happens to want to start a fight i will send a 28.5gr eun jin (if they shoot good) into it and that should deal with the problem.. i think with a 21gr pellet going i guess call it 935fps a 28.5gr pellet would be in the 800-850 ish fps range and i think thats 50fpe or close to it heck maybe even a tad more then 50fpe. it can also handle the neutra that lives within a 150yard radius of the lake house, they are highly territorial and will attack a human. so either way im covered...

mustang mike,
you are going to need more than a tko to tame that bark!! ;)
heres a preview of my 2300 build coming together now.a 2300 is just a custom 2240 ;)
apolgies in advance for the crummy pics.have to adjust the setting on the camera
this is Oogie Boogie http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Oogie_Boogie,.so (http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Oogie_Boogie,.so) far has been living up to his name

the tube was lathed and milled to accept a disco valve and jds tank adapter.
the work was done by Lloyd-ss of http://www.airgunlab.com/ (http://www.airgunlab.com/)
the disco valve's exhaust port sit perfectly centered in the tube. in a disco tube the valve doesnt sit so perfect, great job Lloyd!!!
more to come in a thread about the gun later

One of my recent builds. 9mm 2250 tanker. Tank output PSI is set at 1100 psi and is avg. 550-600 FPS depending on bullet weight. (trying to remember #'s off the top of my head) Shoots 58 grn. and 70 grn bullets. Its using an inexpensive barrel 1-16 twist .356.
This will be just one of the many custom 22XX/Disco conversions I will be selling at this year Roanoke Air Gun Show Oct 19-20.
