Title: Webley & Scott Rebel .177 cal Part II
Post by: Dick Tracey on September 19, 2012, 03:45:55 PM
This part of the review will cover the power of the pumper and some accuracy.

I will be using Gamo Tomahawk .177 Cone shapped pellets 7.6G.  I bought these at Wal-mart for about $6.00 for a tin of 700.  They have been used primarly for breaking in airrifles as so far they do not have much accuracy.  I really do not have much luck with any of the Gamo ammo as far as accuracy.   I have a Pro Chrono and the weather is really nice in the mid 60's and very little wind.

Edit-- I cleaned the barrel with GooGone ran several patches until clear and then ran several dry patches and then one patch with a drop of pelgun oil. --Edit

This first set of numbers is for the full 8 pumps and this is the first time the rifle has been shot.

The open sights on this rifle seem to do pretty good but I will end up with a scope or red dot as my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

The noise level is much louder than lower power pumpers, it is close to my .177 cal springers but a little quiter than my .177 cal Disco.

I will try some bench accuracy tests on Fri. and some different pellets weight and style.

I feel that these numbers are very respective of the advertised numbers and I will try some lead free pellets to see if the 900 FPS number can be reached.  I may even get up enough courage to remove from stock and see what the guts look like.

A few notes I missed on Part I.  The barrel showing is a black plastic tube with a barrel inside it.  The plastic barrel is very flimsy, ie, you can bend it by pushing on it.  I am trying to be careful with it by not picking up the rifle by the barrel or squeesing it to the pump handle.  I do not hold the rifle by the barrel while pumping it.
