Title: R8 v HW 97 another backyard battle...
Post by: barcabarca on September 09, 2012, 01:47:34 AM
Got the R8 for around $100 from a pawn shop!  Got the HW 97 used for $500.  Check out the targets... man I LOVE these two rifles.   best shot cycles ever....

It looks like the two of those rifles are shooting neck-in-neck.  How far was the range of the targets you were shooting?  Even with the lower scope power, the R8 is doing well against its big brother.

Not particularly far, 20 yards with a laser measurement...but wow...9 FPE and 14 FPE ( JM kit)...and both super smooth and accurate. If they could be as powerful as my Diana Rifles then I'd be super happy but they never seem to be that way without major work.. Ah well.  I have different horses for different courses... 8)

Great rifles you have there.
Along with your other beauties.
There is the old saying....70 percent shooter 30 percent gun...
Mighty fine shooting Brother.

Not nitpicking, but the rifle spoken of in the text is an "R8" . The photo of the target has an "R9" marked on it. Is it the actual R8 target or was it just mis-labeled?

Clip, not nitpicky at all, just the first to notice!  The rifle is indeed a Beeman R8.  I mis labeled the target as I was probably thinking about its favorite pellet JSB 7.9's.... :o   I sold my R9 a year ago and REALLY Miss that air rifle... Here was my R9... :P
