Title: Finally a Feinwerkbau!!
Post by: airnutz on September 06, 2012, 01:49:36 PM
Hello guys, well finally!

I was looking (still) for my first recoilless Match Rifle.

Got it!

A real fine, Feinwerkbau 150 from the early 60's.  A flawless light shaded Walnut Stock, no rust, and it shoots so sweet I can't even believe it.  These things are just flat addictive!

It can be cocked (side lever) with your little finger, and BAM!  But you hardly notice it.  The gun does not jump or shake, it just kind of feels as if something inside moved, but the target remains in sight.

Amazing!

I'll post some pics soon.  Real soon, cause I have a feeling, if I don't....nobody will talk with me anymore.   ;D

But I have to shoot a couple hundred pellets first!

Robert

I have a 300, I'm looking for a nice 150. Great guns, super accurate, and built like tanks. The FWB65 pistols are nice too. Congratulations!

Scott, I've been looking and looking.  I almost landed a Diana 75 that was in super condition, but I am a little scared because I can't work on them (yet!).  The FWB'S I can handle, if not a buddy can do them.  I bought this 150 from him.

Man, do these things shoot nice!!

Congratulations! A Match quality air rifle is on my wish list.

Carlos, for the future I'm only going with these Match Rifles!!  We aren't allowed to have rifles more than 575 fps anyway, so I want the 575 fps to be smooth as butter, and these things are just utterly cool!

Quiet also.

Did I say accurate?

After reading up on posts sourced off-line went into the 75 doing the overhaul myself.  Once past the initial unknown a real fun and rewarding experience.

If that deal is still out there for a 75 ? .... Snap it up !!

Nice to hear your friend was willing to part with his FWB 150.  He must be a REALLY good friend to let you have that nice rifle of his, even if you did have to buy it.  ;D

After shooting my sporter FWB 124s, I'm looking forward to someday trying out one of the match rifles like your 150, or the 300 or 300S.  I bet its almost spooky how you shoot and don't feel anything, but the pellet hole lands right where you were aiming.

Have fun, and show us some accuracy out past 10 meters at some point.

@Calmark, my Buddy has a nice collection....well actually too many.  When he feels humble he'll let one go for a decent price, only to make room for other gems.  He says himself he rarely shoots anything but his favorites, these being "Jung Roland" guns, I doubt you have these in the US, as they are quite rare.

The 150 just kills me.  I feel something moving inside, definitely metal to metal, but very faint.  The target remains in sight during the shot execution, and the hit has never been so visible, because the barrel does not jump.  There is hardly a jolt to the shoulder either, more like someone very gently tapping you with a forefinger, very gently tapping mind you.  Just amazing.  The gun is quieter also than for instance my Walther 55.  I can very clearly hear the hit when shooting a target that is solid.

I'm hooked on precision Match Rifles.

That FWB 150 sounds like it shoots very nicely.  I've heard these guns and their quality likened to a Swiss watch.  I think I might need to get one of these to help me with my mediocre shooting accuracy.  No recoil would definitely make it easier, and no need for all of the gadgets that go along with pcp guns.  Grab the FWB and some pellets and targets watch out!

If you ever decide to shoot long distance, I'd be interested how your results compare to the 10m shooting.

Hi I love my FWB 300s I got from Jim E on the AA classified he brings them in from Germany I was lucky enough to get just the action and built my own stock , see the pictures . It is one of the best shooting rifles I've had and I have had a pile of rifles, but this one puts all the pellets in one hole not a clover leaf but all in one hole it doesn't matter if you shoot 5 or 10 pellets their is only one hole ragged but not mush bigger than one pellet. And the action is so smooth it's unreal, I had a RWS 54 not too long ago but this is much better, I know it is only about 600 fps but I like accuracy much better than power. Howie1a

I agree Howie, they are just special.

When mine is finished I think I'll make a video of the action.  I think maybe marking with small white tape strips on the barrel and the stock, then shooting and then we can view the action of the system to let others realize what a sweet shooter these FWB'S are.  I just had to watch from the side as my Buddy shot the gun to see what the receiver tube was doing.  It just slips back a bit as the shot is released.  That's it!

Amazing, and my FWB 150 is an early model as it's reg. number is only four digits.  An old air rifle with cool technology....I'm nuts about it!, airnutz.

Serial Number says mid 1964.

I've mounted a Walther 4 x 32 scope, it's light in weight and I can shoot without eyeglasses.  I'm thrilled already with the accuracy.

Does consistency make things boring?

The addiction for me is....it's just so smooth and easy.  The gun is just plain fun to shoot.  Nothing happens!

Pics coming.

That FWB is sounding better all the time.  Accuracy is increasingly more what I look for in a gun, and it sounds like the FWB are a really consistent gun.  That doesn't sound boring at all! ;D

Looking forward to pictures and maybe some groups, errr, one-hole targets?  ;D

No pressure of course!

No, No....no pressure at all. ;D

But I have to tell you, there is on the roof of a barn next to my house, an old tennis ball that the dogs loved to chase when the grandchildren would play with them.  I can see it from my Balcony, but I've never hit it so that it could roll back down.  Well, I'm surprised to see that it isn't a tennis ball, but thanks to the scope it's a hard, solid rubber ball with a string tied to it. ;D

With the FWB and the scope, I hit it (more than 75 feet away) on the first attempt!!!!!!

It's still sitting there, but in the meantime marred by a bunch of pellets.

The gun/scope combo is accurate for sure.

The other challenges is to make "tiny" targets and to participate in mini-sniping.
That will challenge you and the rifle.
Mini-sniping adds the variable of wind.

At one time I was shooting 1/4 scale targets, because the full size targets were getting too easy to hit w a scoped 300.

Well I'll never be that good of a shooter.

But the gun, and in the meantime the scope has helped a lot.  I hit now time after time at 10 meters dime-sized targets.  This is the best ever for me.

The gun is just plain fun.

OK Guys, I'm in the process of getting acquainted with a scope.  The FWB 150 I bought was without any optics.

I decided for starters for a Walther 4x32, which should meet my minimal requirements being maximum 25 yards.

My other thought of significance was, since the FWB System moves backwards after the shot, what about the durability of the scope?  I think the lighter the better, and not too long as the system is a top-loader.  Too long and I can't get my dang fingertips in there to load a pellet.  I don't want no darned screwball tweezers on my shooting table either.

I'm real happy with the scope!  25 Meters is real clear and I hit the target consistently.

So, here are a few pics.
