I have one of these hammers coming soon. Getting it because of the compact size and power. Hoping to put the smack down on some Coons and opossums with it. Who has one and what kind of performance are getting?
-
I have one and it is indeed a hammer, deadly accurate and loves JSB 25.39gr and H&N 31gr Barracuda's. I have a hi-flow Condor tank for the added shot count though the direct-flow is just as powerful. Mine is stock and will remain that way as I don't need any more than 50-55fpe for the hunting I do. I would not be afraid to use it on medium size game like G hogs, Racoon or Possum. It is a joy to shoot with a R&L shorty shroud and a Walkonking Wok-butt. It is not a pistol in the conventional sense but makes a fine carbine. You will be amazed at it's compact power and accuracy. For me, 1/2 inch groups at 35 yards and 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards.

The Talon Pistol .25 is a hammer. You will get 50fpe or more on full power depending on the weight of the pellet. They are still loud though, so you will need a shroud if you are shooting in a residential area. Coons, possums, fox, or coyote don't stand a chance. Just make sure you shoot them in the brain. Study their skulls first, or visit the GTA Hunting Gate with help on shot placement for a very quick kill.
Let us know how you like it when it arrives.

Both really good pistols/carbines and similarly priced depending on which look you prefer. I prefer the AF.

congrats!
i got a chance to shoot one right out the box.it belonged to another customer
yeah the thing is loud, dont recommend shooting it indoors
it was ran over a chrony with 2100psi and a h/n crow mag power 5 or 6 cant remember exactly but it produced 40fpe
lovely little power house and its light

I spoke with Randy over at R&L. I'm going with his shroud ,super sear, and the spin lock set up with gauge and quick fill. Thanks guys that's just what I wanted to hear. I'll keep you guys posted.

I really like these Talonp's, and have alway's liked .25's. Just wondering if there is a way to "detune" them? 40-50 ft/lbs is way too much for my needs. I understand you can use a dial to power it down a bit, just wondering what that exactly lowers it to? I'd be happy with 15-18 ft/lbs.
Thanks!

If you want to use it more for plinking I would suggest the Co2 adapter sold by several airgun dealers. The fpe is lower and shot count is increased. I don't know how well Co2 works with .25cal though; maybe someone else has some knowledge in that regard.
-
Interesting, I just saw a PA video of a review on the Talonp, with PCP on high power it's in the 900's fps and low power it's in the 800's fps, not that much of a difference. Mid 400's fps with CO2. Using JSB .25 caliber 25 grain pellets. CO2 accuracy is a bit worse as well.

NOW.....I need to know how effective is that shroud? and would what you compare the sound to after the shroud
-
Meeeeee too! I would love to know. I've been look at this hard and it may pull me on to the pcp side.
-
Very effective. Sound goes from "BooM" to a metallic "chink".
