Title: Walther Talon .25
Post by: hilsat on July 23, 2012, 03:47:42 AM
Just ordered a Walther Talon in .25 cal. I have never owned an airgun from this manufacturer. Are the seals usually good from the factory or should I order a couple? Any other incite would be appreciated.

Thanks. Happy to hear there are no general issues with these airguns. Have done allot of reading and the general consensus is that they are accurate and pack a punch. Looking forward to putting some lead through it.

The WAthers were in the beginning usual a good built gun. .25 was on my list for a long time and now I can say with 3 of them I love the power and knock down on prey. I mainly shoot the Hn ftt 19.6 in all of mine. There more ammo to choose that will work. The pellets look huge beside the. 177/ .22..

It will be my first .25! Cant wait to give it a good breaking in. Looks like its out for delivery along with an order of pellets from PA. I did order some of the HN FTT's have been reading allot of guns like them so I ordered several in each cal. Also ordered some of the Crow Mags, have read allot of guns don't like them but at 40 yards (as far as I like to shoot in town) my Ruger air mag likes them fine. Do you suggest leaving the Talon alone or should it get a lube?

Just shoot it as is for now. CROWS are great ammo. You are right about the distance. I don't see the. 25 for much MORE than that. I too only have short range to shoot. But the. 25 is a bad caliber for that range. Plenty of knock down. .25 is not for everybody. I think your going to love it once you get use to it. Just keep the faith and learn the  Magnum gun and the. 25.
ENJOY!!

Thanks for the encouraging comments. I think I will really enjoy the .25 also purchased a Leapers 3-12x40 to sit on it hope it holds up. I would like to see what a crow mag will do to something other than paper but since the airgun collection started growing the grackles started disappearing :) I see them everywhere but my yard. The robins on the other hand will stand within 3 feet of my target while I am shooting and look at it like they are keeping score and the doves stand on the handrail of my deck and drink from the water feature I have built into the deck. Funny how they know they are not in danger.

I have the .22 and it's great.. The crow magnums work well in mine.. I would wait until you have at least 500 rounds through it before having it tuned..

It came in at about noon yesterday. Had a chance clean it and put about 10 rounds through it then 10 more over the chrony. Its shooting 800 +- with H&N FTT's. Keeping a good group with open sights at 15 yards. Will shoot open sights until I get a few through it then Ill put the new Leapers on it and see what it does at 40. Very fast cycle. Seems like its going to be fairly accurate for a magnum springer.

Dont fix it if it aint broke.  You are touching 800 fps with ftt's- sounds to me like she's sealing up just fine.
