Title: HW77 long barrel first shots power
Post by: TOM aka critter99 on July 17, 2012, 05:31:11 PM
wife went to store so cleaned barrel  8)

This one is healthy and much less twang than the 97 had  ;D

Edit I had the JSB and H&N transposed ::)

HN FTT 11.42 763fps 14.65fpe
JSB 13.73gr 693fps 14.77 fpe

Much hotter than my HW97 20 out of box with its stubby barrel

HN FTT 11.42 718fps 13.08 fpe
JSB 13.73gr 650.3fps 12.90 fpe

Too bad they did not have it in .177 for flatter shooting.....hmmm still might need one

Looking good so far.  Those are good numbers.  Its looking good for the lighter-weight FTT pellets.  If it likes them for accuracy, you just might have the perfect blend of power/fps to make a great long distance shooter.

Next time the wife goes out shopping, it will be time for a little accuracy test.  ;D

Yeah! And if she's anything like my wife he'd have time to strip it down, lube & tune it followed by an accuracy test. ;D

That gun is amazing in .20, Tom. I wouldn't want any other caliber for an HW77. Wait till Bart kicks in to confirm it, he'll tell you all about it. Great accuracy with more energy downrange than the .177 - what else could you ask for, right?

            That's the spirit!   8)

Did you experience any dieseling effects? I think you should wait a little until it settles down (after the burning of possible extra lubricants) and check it again.

minimal no violent shots at all.  first few had a slight barrel hazing.....my HW97STL 20 cal had much more

I will use the heavier JSBs to break it in besides I have more of them than the H&Ns
