Title: Winchester 1911 Ai
Post by: jct842 on July 13, 2012, 01:50:57 AM
I just punched the button on a Winchester 1911 Ai at Bass Pro.  They are a bit high on costs but I used my rewards card so I have just  $1.16 in real money in the gun and a 15 pk of co2.  Been wanting another blowback for a while and since I had enough rewards points why not?   Will report on it next week when it comes.  Lately I been parking on the porch with a steel storm on single shot, I just don't care for double action in bb or pellet guns.  My cr357 on single action is great, I have 2 with 8" barrels.  I am waiting for the pistol gate too.   john

Looking forward to your report on that 1911. I've had my eye on that one and another.

It has been shipped, comes tue.  From what little I have been able to read on it I find no big negatives out side of grip color.  With bb's there isn't much way to fudge on fps either since all bb's weigh the same.   It is an expensive bb gun but does have decent blow back looking at youtube videos.

With pellets the gun I would like is that magnum reasearch desert eagle or what ever they call it but that gun is almost $200.   I have a ppk that I did the machine gun mod on and wish I had left it alone as the mod can not easily be erased.  It shoots the magazine in about 1 1/2 seconds with little power and only a couple of magazine on full auto and co2 is out.

The gun arrived.  I am impressed. A true semi-auto just as advertised. The trigger is stiff to pull and will get a trigger job later, but when firing it only moves a fraction of an inch. My big beef with the so called "semi-auto" pistols most manufacturers sell is they are not semi but a double action revolver in disguise, and by the time I get pulling a long stroke to cock and fire my aim has been messed up.   On the side "MADE IN JAPAN" no china on this one. Very heavy feels just like the gov .45 I used to own years ago, and even has the same rattle when shook sideways from the slide. It has a real recoil,  way more than a ppk.  I have trouble to see the sights as I expected.  Just painted the front red with a paint marker. Accuracy is plenty good for cans at 40 feet. Not quite 4 clips to exhaust the co2.  And on clips, I don't mind the plastic as others have complained wanting metal ones,  but I only have one and have yet to see where I can order more.  As far as targets, its a bb gun and if I am going to punch paper I will use pellets.  After a warm up or a fresh co2 bottle I get around 500 or better fps and after a second shot it goes to 410 420 and that is a lot more than the ppk I have.   Out back I have plastic pop bottles hanging from low branches in trees and this gun is perfect to smack them with.   Daisy did a real fine job producing this pistol.  I will try the gun on paper in the next day or so, as soon as I can find my old glasses that focus at arms length.   This is by far the most real feeling bb gun I have ever handled or shot.  I doubt if any one would be sorry about buying this gun.  John

If you enjoy the winchester, try and get your hands on a cybergun Tangfoglio witness 1911. I had both and returned the winchester. The TW has a mag that duplicates a real 1911 single stack that holds the co2 and bbs. the trigger is about half the pull weight of the winchester the accuracy a little better. I believe that is due to the better trigger on the TW. The gun actually field strips like a real 1911. Check out replicaairguns.com  you tube video on this one. The only problem is that they have been on backorder since January. Doesn't hurt to have a "backup" gun. These are not your daddy's BB guns!

+1 to the recommendation of the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 blowback.   I also enjoy the Sig x-Five Open pistol and recommend that too.

both sig x5 and the tanfoglio are real nice guns.  I was limited because I could only use the bass pros catalog to order from using bass pro rewards and feel I got the best hand gun they had.  I have a feeling I will own a hatsan 25 soon even if I have to pay money for it instead of rewards points.   john

I like the Winchester 1911 shoots good and hard and is very accurate. You got a nice gun there.
