Title: has anybody noticed the new cphp's at walmart lately?
Post by: robert w on July 08, 2012, 09:26:10 PM
i bought a bunch of pellets at walmart this week. when i got home i notied several tins didnt rattle , so i opened the tins and found a suprise inside . the new pellets were lots cleaner , very shiny and had a foam rubber packing like they used to do. it was cphp's and in both .22 and .177. i usually dont shoot up newest ammo but had to see how they were . didnt crony but will soon , my findings they seemd to be a tad faster and didnt get as many fliers from either tin i choosed . i used my d-34's for an even shoot 1 is 177 and the other is 22 . but the price is up $0.75 a tin . but i dont mind if the quality comes with the higher price . oh yes my fingers didnt get as black after mabe 40-50 shots in either caliber . mabe they are wakin up . i need to weigh them on my powder scales n see if we gained any .

I just cracked open a new tin of .177s tonight and found the same thing. My 850 absolutely loved them...

Hmm, got me wanting to go see if our WM has any new tins in stock. CP's work well in maybe two of my guns, but if they can improve the quality that might change and save me some shipping costs.

My Gamo Hunter 220 sure seems to like the new pellets.  Just took 7 tree rats this morning at 20 to 35 yds.

i just picked up 2 tins of the CPHP to try. one is .177 the other is .22, got them from PA.
the .22 cal didn't rattle because the tin is full. no rattle room. the .177 did rattle. no padding and it's the same tin as the .22 cal uses. the smaller pellets have room to rattle around.

Guys, you are making me go to Walmart and buy a tin of CPHPs... with my current tin of CPHPs still half-full :) - my RBH loves CPHPs (to tell you the truth, I didn't really try other pellets just yet, looking at reviews etc CPHPs look optimal)

Last year I went on a buying sprig and stocked up on several kinds of pellets that my many guns shoot well.

For the CPHP .177 cal I bought them a Wal mart. Every time I went to WM ( once a week usually), I looked for the hollow points and bought up what they had. They started out costing $4.46 a tin. Then they went up to $6.47 a tin. The last time I bought any, I didn’t look at the price until I got home. They went up to $7.97 a tin. I stopped buying them.

Back to the subject, none of the tin had any foam packing inside the tin. By accident (none of my22  cal guns like them), I bought six tins of .22 cal hollow points and they didn’t have any foam packing either.

bought a tin of 500 yesterday in the Athens Ohio Walmart. no padding. $8.97 per tin plus tax. but my new Benjamin seems to like them better than the gamo pellets i have tried and better than the destroyers

Looks to be a price hike creeping in,they are still $6.47 here($7.00 per tin) out the door
Their on-line price has been $8.97 for several months
May need to drop in and snag 15-20 tins here pretty quick

Same price here $6.47. I got 1 tin because I don't have a .22 yet, it has been ordered though. If the QB likes'em I'll get more.:)

Same thing here. A couple of weeks ago (a few days before borking my jet) I purchased some CPHP's and noticed they were shinny as a new nickel...! Definitely a difference from the last tin I purchased.

Bought a couple tines from Dicks Sporting Goods and I could all but see my self in 'em! Plus like others are saying, the Rem and RWS 34 are taking them better!

I have never seen nor bought a tin of Crosman pellets at WalMart that had any sort of extra packing inside. They've also been as dirty as I've come to expect from Crosman. I admit that it's been awhile since I've purchased any pellets from WalMart so I'm not sure as to the price nowadays. The last ones I bought were CPHP for $8 per tin of 500.
I once commented (sometime back ) on the GTA about the poor selection of pellets at WalMart. I received a note from someone who said they were a representative of WalMart. He assured me that there would be more of a selection available "soon". That included more pellet configurations ( domes, hollowpoints..etc. ) and calibers.  After a few weeks passed with no change at "my" local store, I asked the man in charge of the sporting goods counter just when I could expect to see those changes. His reply.."Don't hold your breath. We're not getting any different ones and may even cut down on what we carry now". So far, I haven't seen any reduction on what they stock but neither have I seen anything different. It's the same old selection everytime. I've reached the point where I don't bother to even go look at the pellet counter 'cause I'm tired of seeing the same old merchandise.

Walmart is still trying to ride the failing air soft wave.
People are bailing at a steady rate, the few still into that game are not
playing with the low rent &^^& at Walmarts.
I will continue to buy every tin shipped to my local store
until this price goes up to their online $8 price.
48 tins and waiting on the next shipment, the lady that manages the sporting goods uses her
Employee discount of 10% that makes shopping a pleasure:)
Welcome to the CPHP .22 Armory :)

There is a method to my madness, looking at some "futures" and good ole lead may just take a jump on the market
The thought of Walmart getting anymore support then they already get, requires gettin while the gettin is good!
I buy nothing from Walamrt/Sams and havent for nearly 15 yrs since I hauled my last load for them.
One stop to wipe the shelves out and gone, takes 10 min and the savings support the venture

Dats a lot of CPHP's

There isnt a boar limit on amo is
Dats a lot of CPHP's

I have to say that the Crosman Premier hollow points have done pretty well for me in my air rifles. I finally got to try some in my Crosman Custom Shop model 2400 CO2 carbine, and I was amazed at a 3 shot group bench rested at 10 yards with a scope. The size of the hole is just the size of a .177 pellet. So, the next trip to Wally World, I grabbed another tin  of them. I haven't opened it yet and just now read this thread, so I'll see how they are packaged.  But I will always have these pellets on my shelf. They are so often either the best pellet for my rifles, or at least very good accuracy. They do well in my Crosman 1077 and Remington Airmaster 77 also.

I wonder how long they will stay shiny in the can ? Don't think they are air tight....

Just picked up a can of CPHP - at my local wally store in Knoxville, TN - this weekend ... No padding in my can ...
They seem to be firing better than CPHPs I've used in the past though ...
