Title: USA vs. Germany
Post by: mtsheron70 on June 30, 2012, 09:04:22 PM
Well I decided to get some table time in and set up my shooters bench and brought out the Benjamin Marauder .25 caliber to go head to head with my German Weihrauch HW97k .22 caliber.  Shooting benched at 35 yards at the target.

Setups-

M-Rod:
Fill pressure- 2950 lbs.
Pellet- JSB Exact Kings 25.39 grains
Shot count- 9-13
Assistance: UTG Bi-Pod
Weather- 95 degrees high humidity; no wind.

HW97k:
Tune- Vortek PG2 18+ kit
Pellet- Beeman FTS Copper plated 14.72 grains
Shot count- N/A
Assistance- Caldwell shooters bag
Hold- rest forearm on bag left hand crossover to lightly rest on thumbhole area
Weather- Above

I was surprised with the results.  Both shot great and the M-Rod is consistent as ever.  But the German Beast barely edged the M-Rod!

Me either Ivan!  I was amazed.  I need to reshoot the match with both rested on the shooters bag so I can say it was equal in every aspect.

i kind of am suprised. not that i doubt the hw97  but i would still guess that the mrod in .25 would out group the hw, even at 35yds. i would expect it to gain in advantage the farther out you go. but hey it's not the 1st time i've been wrong. just my thoughts. ;D   i've shot an mrod in .25 and it was more accurate than my .177. ;D

i know those hw97 are known good shooters as well. so all of you hw97 owners don't flame me. i've wanted one myself for some time now, and i'm more of a pcp/pumper/co2 guy. i want one in .20 stainless. ;D

Wow!  I had similar results at 100 yards My Mrod .22 vs Diana 54 in .22  My MROD does NOT have the cool Green Mountain barrel, because it's a .22.  Great shooting though!    :D  My PCP is a bit easier to shoot off handed, but on the bench, it's preetyy close..
