I have a few questions for you pcp owners I am thinking about getting a .22 marauder.
Do you guys leave the rifle charged for long periods of time?
What maintenence do you guys do after shooting?
How many of you guys lube your pellets?
I was thinking of buying an axsor 3 stage pump. is there another fitting I will need to connect to the marauder?
any other information for a pcp newb would be helpful. or if you have another gun suggestion.
thanx

Yes, you can leave it charged for long periods of time. I usually leave my PCP's charged closer to the bottom than the top. Example: if the good shooting is from 3,000 to 1600psi, will normally store it at 1800-1700psi. people leave them fully charged without a problem.
Just wipe it down with a silicon cloth/oily rag to keep the outside from rusting. A dab of lube to keep the bolt cycling smoothly won't hurt, but there isn't anything to do internally.
I'll try it both ways, and if it makes a difference, then I'll lube. So far, it hasn't made any difference I can measure, so I don't bother.
Haven't owned the Axsor. Do own an FX and a Hills, and can recommend either of those two. Marauder will have a foster fill nipple (under a detachable cover at the end of the air tube). Most pumps come with a hose and the female quick detach fitting needed.

I have 2 Axsors pumps and one G4 Air venturi, I reccomend the G4, much cheaper and more rugged

I have a .22 Marauder. It is good to leave air pressure in your gun all the time. It's been said that it keeps the seals in place or well sealed. It makes sense to me. I lube all my pellets. It doesn't hurt anything, and it does help keep the barrel clean. Also helps pervent rust in the barrel. However, I only use the known lube's that don't hurt your seals. Pyramid Air has FP-10 and straight shooter has Napier lube. There are others available including home made brews that are ok as well. Lubing becomes your choice. You should research the net and read what the pros's have to say. The GTA forum is the best place to learn about your new PCP airgun.
I have a Benjamin air pump which works ok, but it is quite a work out to keep pumping the puppy all morning. The seals in it went bad from sitting too long in the box with the Disco. Had too send it back to Sun Optics for rebuild. No hassle from crosman or Sun Optics. It's been said by many the Crosman stands behind their products, and it is true.
Now, I have a scuba tank, and it has made my shooting experience so much better. I strongly recommend a scuba tank as your number one air supply, and use the pump as your back up. However, it up too you. GTA members had told me about the scuba tank, and I soon followed their advise and got one!
The Marauder is very accurate and performs wonderfully with a variety of pellets. Mine likes Beeman Kodiak's, both regular and copper plated, Beeman FTS copper plated, Predators, HN Barracuda's, and Beeman Crow Magnums.
The things I've told you I learned from the experts.

nice find. Now approximately how many fills would you get out of a tank this size?
-
Try the tank calculator from Airguns of Arizona. Quite accurate

No offense to 22 Mrod shooter since I use to have one. I would jump up to the 25 Mrod IMHO, if I was you. Man oh man mine shot circles around my 22 cal Marauder. What ever you do go with enjoy!!!!!
-
You will get more shots out of the .22 M-rod.
.22 does well with a 2500psi fill and a 3000psi tank.
The .25 needs a 3000psi fill, and a 3000psi tank wont work out very well.
The calculators do not take into account an initial fill, which takes up a lot of air.
Also they don't take into account the size of the fill hose and bleed off air.
My dive shop fills my tank to 3300 without a problem.
I would estimate 20-25 fills with 80cf @ 3000psi
and 25-30 fills with 80cf @ 3300psi
I read where you can reduce your bleed off by inserting nylon line into the fill hose.

I don't have a Marauder at all, but most of what I heard about the .22 versions having accuracy problems appears that it was a case of the pellets striking the baffles on the way out.
The new bunch of .22 Marauders supposedly have the baffles sized correctly to avoid that.
Even if the .25 did better, it would have to be significantly better to justify it over the .22, since your pellet selection is something like 1/4 that of the .22.
No JSB Predators, for one.
-
I do love predators! .25 cal sounds cool. I dunno I'm hoping if I get the .22 cal marauder it likes cphp's if not oh well. How much do you get charged for a fill up Rickster? the closest dive shop is 45 minutes away from me.
-
WOW, that could make it expensive with gas and all.
And inconveniant.
The dive shop I use is about 4 miles away, and they charge $7 for a refill.
The funny thing is, I payed him to have my tank hydro'd, and Ive been back to fill it up 4 times, but he hasn't charged me for a refill yet. He tells me that I hardly use any of his air recharging my tank from 2500 to 3300psi.

OK, I did not say the tank calculator was perfect. I said it was quite accurate. I used it to make an informed purchase decision on my scuba tank purchase, and it did a good job for me.
I get 25 top's offs on the M-Rod from 2000 to 2500 psi and 25 top offs on the Disco from 1000 to 1800 psi
on a 3200 psi fill. The one and only dive shop in El Paso won't do the 3300 psi.
Of course if you have a long hose or fill your guns from almost empty the numbers will be different.
I offered the tank calculator from Airguns of Arizona as a tool that worked for me.

yea with my car driving 80 miles round trips is like 5 1/2 gallons of fuel. like 15 bucks LMBO... It's a hassle.
