In the springer world, have there been any thoughts to a dual spring setup,as in a smaller dia. spring, inside the main spring for a bit more power?

Hmm . . . like Dual Valve-springs on high-performance cars . . . Interesting thought !

Actually had a BB/Pellet/dart pistol that did this. Cheap little thing that was almost all plastic. Don't remember the make, think I got it at Walmart about 13 years ago. Wasn't much of a gun, no power but it did help me teach my wife how to shoot.

That sounds like a "Marksman" pistol ( Crosman ? ) . . . I had one years ago . . . Kind of looked like a Model 1911 .45 acp pistol.

Yes...you read my mind! But now the newest thing, for engines are the "beehive' single springs. Less mass and self canceling harmonics.
However the air rifle is bit different.

They do or have in the past, tho can't really say if done for power ? Or to get the different spring rates and twang to somewhat mask each other ?
My RWS / Diana 75 recoiless "Giss" style spring gun is so equipped.

You can bet your last dollar that in the springer world, the single main spring has been tested, and adjusted, to get the best over all results, aside from having a good tune with new delrin spring guides, and better piston seals, your ideal on two separate springs would be going backwards in this industry.
The springer has been around for a long long time, funny how people try all kinds of stuff, when the blue prints have been laid years ago from the old school guys who tested everything under the sun,and then some.
The best results have been already established it's done!
Now days we are into simply changing the power plant from a spring to a gas ram on some, the new gas ram power plant does the same job except it is smoother in the shot cycle, with the same power,or a little more power depending on what gas ram you installed.
It is a nice change in the air rifle industry, but I personally favor a good tuned springer, I would have more springer type rifles, then gas rams in my house, at least two gas ram rifles for sure

Been done numerous times by various manufacturers for assorted reasons from power to velocity stability. Do a bit of research to learn more.
There's little new under the sun in springers! Tom

Thanks for all the info! I'm new in the world of powerfull air rifles, and ideas always cross my mind.
Of course,in my hot rod hobby,I can build and test them out, having 40 yrs of background in that.
