First a little background. I think the beauty of airguns is that there is such a variety that there is something for nearly every shooting need (ok, large dangerous game the exception). But anyway. I have had many magnum springers and pumpers but since, for now, I live in the city and in small place, plus adding shoulder injuries and age, they are just not that much fun. Shooting indoors has been max of about 25 feet and using airsoft and bb/pellet pistols. But I have always been more of a rifleman than a pistolero.
So keeping my eyes open for a low powered springer like the Xisico B12 and other similar powered rifles, I happened across a Savage 600 on an auction site. Not much info on it but it is made by Gamo and looks like a Delta/Cadet but with the 25 shot repeater mechanism of the Expomatic. The manual says flat head pellets only so I found in my stache some Beeman coated wadcutters. They function perfectly. H&N lead round ball also work with no problems. Accuracy off hand is one ragged whole though the range is very short. I have read that the similar rifles by Gamo are good to about 20 yards. This little gun is exactly what I needed.
If anyone has any more info on it I would love to hear.

Congrats on your purchase. Highly recommend is a grt trigger.

Thanks bomber. I will keep that in mind. Heard good things about them.

Don't know anything about the gun, but welcome to GTA.

Thanks Tater

Welcome to the GTA forum and family. Yep....that looks like my 1977 (Give or take a year) .177 Gamo Expotec. Mine have a wood stock but no safety. I see a safety in front of your trigger on your rifle.
My Expotec can only use Gamo Match pellets with the tube magazine. I'm pretty sure the Crosman Wad will be too long and get squashed when closing the barrel. Maybe your air rifle have been upgraded around the loading area.

Maybe so. I have read that there is also a Savage 560 but I have seen no pictures so I don't know what the difference is. Maybe the 600 is an upgrade. The wadcutters are cheap and work great so I am a happy camper. I need to get out the chrony and check a few of my airguns but for this one it really isn't that important. I am just happy the repeater works well.
Nice to be on GTA.

welcome to the Gta.

Thanks Kenneth. Good to be here.
Oh. and to gamo2hammerli.... nice wood on your Expotec. thanks for the pictures.

Nice rig!

Thanks Wheelman. I like it. Sometimes it's not all about power.

Welcome to GTA!!!

Thanks renowntwo. Seems like a friendly place.

Except for the tube feed on top of the receiver, it sure looks like my Delta.
My Delta is a nice low power plinker, casual rifle.
The stock trigger was rather gritty, so I replaced it with a GRT trigger. Gee what an improvement. But I am primarily a 10m target shooter, so I like light triggers.
Caution: The GRT trigger will reduce the trigger weight significantly. If you do replace your trigger with a GRT trigger, KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER until you have the rifle pointed and aimed safely down range. It will take a bit of practice until your finger gets used to the reduced trigger weight, until then just be careful.
I have a Tasco RedDot sight on my Delta, and that is perfect for 10m and less and the kind of shooting I do with that rifle.

Thanks for the good info ac12. Much appreciated.

Out of curiosity I tried a few different pellets this morning with my Expotec since the Crosman Wads works with Stromchsr's Savage 600. Surprise surprise....the Crosman Wad and CPHPs didn't get squashed by that metal block at the loading area. Two out of five Gamo Hunters did get a bit of their skirts squashed and clipped off.
Good...so now I've two more types of pellets I can shoot out of my Expotec using their tube magazine.

Excellent. Glad to hear that gamo2hammerli.

Welcome to the GTA!!

Thank you Vinny. Friendly place and that's great.
-
I don't know anything about them, but it sounds like a nice gun to have. Have a great time with it! :)

Thanks Lizzie. It's functioning perfectly so far with the pellets I have mentioned. I am very happy with it. I will get a new GRT trigger though, as suggested by your forum members. Definitely needs that like many rifles do. The same trigger will work in my venom dusk as well. My thanks to everyone here for their help.
