Title: Hatsan 125 Sniper in .25 cal... 30' range results

Let me begin this one with the trigger.  There were a few questions surrounding it, and why I felt it was better than that of the TH's.  Both triggers got the 13mm screw treatment, as well as a conditioning of the screw tips.  So I believe the playing field is level. The trigger on this Sniper is just all around better.  I cannot say why - it just is.  Both triggers got adjusted optimally, but the trigger of the TH would not hold it's setting.  The TH's trigger also did not break as clean, and it had a heaver second stage pull.  I don't believe this is a trait of the TH, but rather just a well finished set i got in the Sniper.  It is in a word sweet, and breaks like glass.  The second stage pull is very clean, and light - lighter than that of the TH.  I am stoked about this.

As i did in the TH, I started things out up close, and I will soon progress out to 25 yds & 35 yds.  The TH shot with similar accuracy at 30', and was later grouping at less than .30" at 25 yards with the FTT & HP's... At 35 yds, the TH would put 4 shots inside of .50" and a 5th inside of .75".  From what I can see below, this sniper will follow suit, and hopefully straighten out the 5th shot with the better trigger  ::)

Enjoy these 5 shot groups at just 30'.  After each shot, I bent the paper back to close the hole for the next shot.  That way, pellets weren't flying unregistered through a tear.  This gun too, really is going to be a shooter... a Sniper  :P

I noticed you were shooting the Baracudas at 31gr. Is this on max. weight for a .25 cal pellet?
I've used the 19.9 thru 26 gr. pellets, and have so far narrowed my likes to the 19.9 H&N FT and the 26 gr.
Poly Mags. Due to the fast speed, the 19.9's seem to hit my 1/4 inch thick steel gong plate the hardest, even harder
than the 24 gr. FT's

Steve,

Got any chrony numbers ?

We have some good "numbers" data for the .22 caliber, but need it for .25, also.

Thanks !

Dave

.... you can figure out the FPE from my chrony threads above.  They are all 29.5-33 FPE.

Well done, price wise, and accuracy wise,  what .25 would you recommend
up until now I never bought or looked  at .25 pellets, It was only because  of the 125 sniper I couldn't resist getting  one.

Dave, you're in time out!  ;D

Mike, I'm not sure which pellet is best yet.  I can see the preferences, but wont know until I get it out to 35 yards.  Besides, I should really retest, and I probably will.  I got a little lazy, and shot the above groups off my predator rest instead of my bag. Had I used the bag, the groups would have been tighter.  I used the bag for the TH test, and most of the good ones one-holled 30'.  You can read about it in the review gate if you like.

Thanks. Im really smitten with this gun. .25 is a lot of fun.  I believe I can get them tighter. My springers dont really care for my predator rest - they do ok, but the caldwell yields better results.

That looks great! Considering the fact that buyers of Hatsan brand airguns are having problem with their guns, I am glad yours worked out really well for you. If I get groups like that from a Hatsan type and alike airguns at 30 yards, I am a happy man.

Congrats on a fine shooting AG

I have to make mention - despite all the negative press, I got 2 Hatsans that performed well.  One had cosmetic issues, and other looked great.  Dont know what to make of all of this  ???

Can't go wrong with the H&N FT's in 19.9 or 20.9 and of course the Predator Poly Mags.
When I shoot, nothing fancy here,I just sit in my favorite chair...cross left leg over top right...prop left arm up on knee to hold forestock...hold lightly ...squeeze trigger.. look at target hit...sip cold High Life...Works great for me! ;D
I don't get to technical with the shooting style....just having fun, which air rifling is all about!

I get pretty nerded out with my shooting style. That's also what airguning is all.about  :P

The predator rest & a towell is the fast & lazy way for me to do it. The caldwell bag, a rag, & a bed pillow allows me some sick groups.

you mentioned before that you can do your own  work, this one trigger being better then the other is bothering me, obviously there is a reason.

besides the 13mm screws have you had the rifle apart yet? when I tuned my 125 sniper I found the trigger sears and it's  engagement piece jammed down inside the trigger block, it did not want to move except by force, so I simply spread the trigger block until  they fitted correctly.

that would certinly cause things to not be as smooth as your other rifle
