Last weekend I mounted a red dot sight to my Benjamin HB22 pistol. This really renewed my interest in it. The factory sights are IMHO awful. I shot it quite a lot last weekend. The whole time I kept thinking that I really like how solid the Benji is built vs my 1377 BUT, the (modified) trigger on my 1377 has a much better feel to it. I dug into the HB22 to see if there was anything else I could do for it's trigger. I have previously modded it and while it is better than stock it's still not quite "there". Well, I didn't see any way to further improve it. I got to thinkin' (uh oh) hmmmmm I do have an extra 1377 grip frame and I do like the trigger and the overall feel of the 1377 grip better than the HB... So the HB22 / 1377 hybrid project is born.
My objective is to adapt the 1377 grip frame to the HB22 without making any non-reversible changes to the HB (just in case). I determined that by making a longer rear tube plug and a custom sear that this can be done.
Here are a couple of pics of my progress so far:
-
Made a new sear with the "catch" moved back .200. Blued the rear plug with some Oxpho Blue. Cut a relief in the grip frame to clear a screw head.

Assembled everything and it works!

Looks great to me, you have a real talent going for you. Thanks David

Great workmanship Matt. Can surely appreciate how you approached this project. So now who is going to be shooting her? Your son or you?...:)

Matt your skill's alway's are amazing with these project's. Just fantastic Bro. an I'm pretty sure you have a one of a kind pistol there!!!

C'mon... No lost parts? Everything fit first time? No blood? No excessive swearing?
Guess it must be what they call "skill"?
Nice job!

I've put 250 - 300 rounds thru the hybrid now and I gotta say, I love this pistol! It's harder to pump than my 1377 but I just really like the way it "fits" and balances. Next I'm gonna see how much power I can wring outta it. Kinda like a steroid HB22!

Now that's what I call a makeover, thanks for sharing the pic's with us. Very nice workmanship.....

BodieJ your line of: "No lost parts? Everything fit first time? No blood? No excessive swearing? " really gave me a good laugh. All questions I can relate to,,,escpecially excessive swearing.
That was good,,,thanks
