Title: Best Pellets for .22 GAMO gas piston or spring gun?
Post by: hzyl0402 on April 28, 2012, 02:19:30 AM
Hey Guys,

I recently pick up a new GAMO bone collector bull whisper .22. this is my first .22, so I tried only one pellet that I have, which is Crosman premier hollow point. and this pellet woundn't group at all at 25 yard.
My Question is what is the best pellet that works on your .22 GAMO gas ram or spring piston airgun?

thanks

Liang

Try some rws,h&n or jsb. Alot of people have luck with those in gamos

Don't use ultralight pellets or really heavy pellets!!!

Try many different pellets to see what your rifle prefers in accuracy.

Hey thats a nice gun, congrats. Every pellet gun is different in what it likes to shoot well. Most of my Gamo rifles and even pellet pistols like different pellets.
Its a good idea to just have a batch of different pellets on hand to try out. H&N and JSB have sampler packs threw Pyramid Air. Good luck.

THANKS GUYS,

I am heading out of the State tomorrow for 20 days. when I am back, I am going to upgrade with a GRT-4G trigger, and give it a lube turn first. then order a bunch of pellets and work this out.

As the other family mentioned try different pellet's and if you lube tune it alittle go's a long way. If you plan on using the stock piston seal remember there usually undersized and too much lube in the lube tune will just let the lube migrate past the seal and give you a smoke show. Ed

thanks for the reminder. I plan to use JM's moly and clear tar, do I need to replace the seal? it's still brand new.

The stock seal is undersized from the start and more then likely was damaged at the factory with it's install. Ed

The pellets i would try are the beeman field target trophy/hn filed target supreme in 14.66 gr, they are the same pellet, jsb 15.9 and 18 gr. For hunting you can throw in the predator poly mags but they are pretty expensive for target practice. Those are usually the top performers in my guns. One gun might like one pellet more than the other but those are usually my top 4.

R&L airgun supply has a whole host of sample packs. Give Randy a call, let him know what you want and POW you got it. No one will take care of you better IMO

I have the Gamo Whisper .22. The first 100 rounds did not do that great.  Not horrible but not great.  I pretty much can only find CPHP in my area.  Anything else I would have to order.  Now that I have close to 1,000 pellets down the tube I get .5" groups at 25y and at 50y I can tag spent shot gun shells.  Love my little gamo.  As everyone keeps saying each gun likes different pellets.  My stepson has a cheap pump up that loves the heck out of Daisy pellets in .177.
