Post by: mtsheron70 on April 21, 2012, 01:30:01 PM
of breaking down the HW97k to install the Vortek system.  I have searched and searched to no avail.  Anyone with a link would be appreciated.  Thanks.

It seems that the above site was taken down very recently. Here are two more sites that may be of help...

Holy Mother of Pearl!!!

Just installed and shot a few shots!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yowzer Bowzer!  gracious x 10!!!  This is a new gun!  Fantastic and everyone should do this to their HW97!

One question to thos who did.  I got the 15-18 ft./lb tune kit.  The one that came.........the spring was shorter than the stock spring.  Is this normal and right?????

I rechecked my order from Vortek and I did indeed order the 15-18 pounder but want to make sure from someone that has done this.

Thanks to all here and this wonderful site!

That is how I felt after installing one in the 350 mag.
Their springs are shorter, I Guess. The spring in my kit, was shorter, than the stock one also.

Heard back from Vortek and they stated that is true for most of their springs and the PG2 system.  I am a very happy camper.  Can't wait to chrony again!

A question since I have a Vortek kit for my 20 caliber HW97K waiting for me to stop tearing my RWS rifles apart  :o

1.  Since your rifle was new how tough was it to break the endcap loose for the first time??

keep us posted on what it does for power and grouping

Not hard at all.  In fact I did not have to put it in a vice as well.  Just a few whacks of the hammer with a wrench inserted like the link above stated and voila, was able to take off by hand.

As always, I'm thinking of another gun, and the HW97k is on the short list. But if I'm gonna pay $600+ for an AG, I don't expect to have to upgrade it.

So dumb question...why does a HW97k benefit so much from a vortek?

I too struggled with adding another $100 to an already $600 gun.  But after much reading and the awesome feedback on this system I just had to.  So what did it do over the stock configuration???

-Took the infamous "twang" away from what is common place in most all springers.
-Lessened recoil quite a bit.
-Will more than likely increase my fps and ft./lbs. in the end.

Don't get me wrong, I too could really see no benefit in a gun that almost could drive tacks from a box.  The gun already has the best trigger on it in the game!  But I assure you, if you ever shoot a HW97k with it, you will have to have one installed in yours!

Springs are shorter. If you compare the stock guide with the PG2. The PR2 holds the spring higher or farther away from the trigger.
