my best air gun is a nice old hw-55 and the worse was a benjamin titan gp
-
Best-toss up between MM tuned b-40, MM tuned ar2078, Billy Kizy tuned HW 95
Worst-Walther Falcon Hunter, 2 screw forearm.
God bless,
Farmer
-
Best: Benjamin Trail XL 1100
Worst: Ruger Air Magnum
-Conor

Best- Disco, love this gun, love the 2240 just as much
Love/hate- M rod, shot awsome for a little then turned to &^^&.
worst- Benjamin trail NP, zero accuracy, stock was a little banged up from factory. that thing went right back
-
well, this a good question, and took a bit of thinking. LOL, like any good question should.
Worst_ Winchester 1000x. Things had a 45 lbs trigger pull. Funky looking machine marks etc etc. Yes they can be fixed up. But Im talking stock guns, best-worse.
Best_ HW97k in .20! Thing makes me smile just talking about it.
-
The best has been my little old Diana GEM. Simple little smoothbore springer from before WWI. The worst, hands down, was a Daisy CO2 rifle. Don't recall the model number but it was the one with the helical pellet clip. I still recall sitting on the steps, fumbling pellets into that clip - what a PITA! Then I took it out for a test. Third shot, the barrel liner went down range. I could have exchanged it for another but instead got my money back.
-
My best gun is my .22 Disco and the worst is my Gamo Sport .177.
-
My best is my RWS470 in 177.
Worst was a daisy pumper that always jammed and the whole front sight peice ended up flying out and so did the barrel.
-
My best gun has to be one that i had build but not sure witch one it is, the worst is a Marksman BB gun.
-
My best was a Diana 50.
The worst was a Slavia but I can't remember the model.
-
Best is an AirForce talon SS, which came out of the box perfect, worst was a beautiful gamo extreme, which had an awesome stock, light weight and powerful but on account of that darned plastic barrel/breech lockup was doomed to be impossibly inaccurate.
-
Worst: Ram Jet/Marksman .177 0035
Best: Benjamin Titan GP .22 or Crosman Storm XT .177
Edit: P.S. All I've ever owned is break barrels (I need to change that) :)
-
Best: Gamo Hornet. I can hit what I'm aiming at.
Worst: Daisy powerline 35, it can too but not past 15 feet, at least not reliably
-
Best, Stoeger X20s .22
Worst, Benjamin Titan GP LV .22
-
Guys I don't think it's fair for you all to compare a springer to a cheap multi pump bb gun. MO.
-
Lol I have only owned 2 so far so this is rather easy!
Best: Hatsan Striker
Worst (by a long way!!): Gamo P800
-
Sorry lc, but those are the only two I own :P
-
Best : Shin Sung Career Ultra
Worst: Benjamin Maurader .25
-
Best: Walther Falcon Hunter .25 cal. (smack down cannon)
Worst: Chineese b2-255 (until it was completly tuned)
-
Best; one of the high end PCPs. That’s like asking which of your kids your love best.
Now worst is easy, Gamo Whisper or was it the RWS 350M that shot accurately but was a scope eater. No it was the Whisper. Gave it away before it had 400 shots threw it and only one shot threw it after the GRT trigger up grade.
-
Guys I don't think it's fair for you all to compare a springer to a cheap multi pump bb gun. MO.
I've already posted, but I agree with Lambchops -- I also should point out that it's really not fair with having guns of poor quality control, as the Crosmans and Benjamins have been (hit and miss). Many many many hundreds of variables to this "Best of" & "Worst of" thread. Great thread but I'm not not a lawyer, nor a judge or politician, or an expert of airguns. I'm sure the Old Timers will have more knowledge than a lot of us :)
-
My best is the Diana 34 easily. Worst was Tech Force 99--the shame of it is, I liked this rifle but could never get it to shoot accurately. I'm sure if I had the tools, skills and knowlege I could have made a shooter out of it.
Scotty
-
Best - Sheridan rocker safety Blue Streak
Worst - Chinese B2 break barrel that thinks it's a shotgun
Y'all are right. Probably not fair comparing a pumper to a springer! ;D
-
My best and favorite is an HW30s Deluxe. While probably not the worst AG, the biggest disappointment was a Turkish built Webley Longbow.
-
I haven't had many.
Best - RWS 48
Worst - Titan NP (didn't like the grouping)
-
Best-hatsan mod 125 sniper
Worst-crosman c11
-
best fx revolution or marauder .177
worst gamo big cat
-
Best is my AA pro sport .177
Worst, by far, Gamo whisper .177. The Gamo, now gone, was loud and inaccurate. The marketing hype around this gun is very misleading.

-
Best would be my .22 marauder (after tuning and replacement barrel,.. And replacement trigger,... And replacement muzzle cap) pathetic QC
and worst has to be my old 1980's webley tempest .22 overlever pistol. I cant get this dang thing to shoot at all. Attillery hold or not, it sprays whatever i feed it everywhere. Its fun to kick can, but only at 20 feet. I call it my garage gun, because thats the only range its good for. My marauder on the other hand, i have been able to reliably hit golf balls at 100 yds with a bit of hold over and wind doping. I love my Mrod.
-
BEST: my Evanix Speed .22, not even counting the full-auto capability.
WORST: Crosman 1077. Despite a mild tune (lightened hammer spring and barrel crown) which helped a little, this gun never gave me the power and accuracy I wanted.
-
Best MSP: Rocker Safety Sheridan (Reliable, accurate, and good power for my needs)
Worst MSP: Benjamin 392 (quality doesn't stack up well against the readily available older guns and not as easily modd-able as my 13xxs)
Best Springer: Air Arms TX200HC
Worst: Benjamin Trail NP (also makes the bottom of my overall list of airguns I have shot)
PCP... only owned one, unless you count CO2 guns, but I've been very happy with the Prod
***edited and added catagories

Right now, my "best" AG is my Wally World Ruger Airhawk with a lube and tune. The thing is just dead accurate and consistent, has plenty of power, cocks smoothly, and the cycle is very fast and solid with no twang or weirdness whatsoever. It's my go to and just shoot gun. This will probably change once I get the spring and seal installed in my Diana 48/52 and a scope installed.
My worst is the B2 I recently frankensteined to death. Although it looked cool and actually had a decent shot cycle, it was a bear trap demon, had a floppy barrel pivot, no accuracy, and finally ended up broken in half and chucked in the trash after it tried to slam shut on the cocking upswing for the third time.:P
No, it wasn't my trigger, but a worn piston tab for those wondering ;D
-
Best, Benjamin Discovery. Worst, Daisy model 25 pump. It broke on me after about a month.
-
Best, probably my tuned X20S, worst probably my .177 b3. I still love my b3 though, thjs is based on overallquality. Thd b3 is still a fun, surprizingly accurate shooter, but it has no scope rail and the rear sight had to be shimmed and hammered on to get a good zero, lol
EDIT- X20 Suppressor was new when I posted this. Not bad, but not the best either.
-
Best: Gamo CFX .177 with GRT-III trigger, especially after the stock spring broke and I replaced both it and the seals with JM replacements without tuning it in the slightest. This one is the bane of any starling unfortunate enough to land within 50 yards of my upstairs window.;)
Worst: Marksman model 1010 spring piston pistol. I couldn't even hit a pie pan at 15 feet with this hunk of garbage.
-
Best, MM tuned XS-28 .22, worst bengamin titan .22
-
Best ... My DIANA 75 ten meter match rifle
Worst ... A Chinese .177 side lever piece of junk
-
LGV Olympia and a Turkish Daisy Powerline. Can you guess which is best and which is worst?
-
Good point lamb chops!
Best springer 470
Worst b-3
Pcp my condor! Still pretty much brand new so over all best yet.
Pcp worst. Hmmm only have 2 and love them both.
Best pumper daisy 880
Worst pumper that daisy that flew apart. Was still too.
-
Wow, I see a trend here! Already 5 Crosman and Benjamin Nitro Pistons in the "worst" list!
-
For the benefit of noobs like me how about letting us know whether it's a pump, CO2, break barrel or what. Most of these model designations mean nothing to me because I'm so new to the sport but I'm eager to learn and gather info.
Thanks,
Kowboi

Best i had was when i lived in England back in the early 80;s . It was a BSA Mercury S in .177 . Very powerful and accurate with a fantastic stock .
Worst is/was my first NPXL 1100 . This gun was bad . Was only shooting in the mid 500's fps , poi was different with every other shot , JUNKER . Replacement one however is a *(&^ of a lot better .
Also had quite a few honerable mentions for best guns but thats another thread .
-
wow im agreeing lambchops i got rid of all crosman and benjamins i owned except for my crosman 400 had it since i was 14 . never gave any trouble ,still looks new but needs new seals .a rainy day project
-
wow im agreeing lambchops i got rid of all crosman and benjamins i owned except for my crosman 400 had it since i was 14 . never gave any trouble ,still looks new but needs new seals .a rainy day project
I like my NP XL 1100. It shoots straight and chronies at 900 fps. It is hold sensitive, and I'm already looking for a magnum replacement in a .22. RWS 460 and HW97 are on the short list. :-\
-
All I know is my Titan was a huge flop.
-
Best: Crosman Nitro Venom
Worst: Daisy Powerline 880
I know, not fair in comparison and the Daisy was actually pretty accurate... but the only two I've had. I'm sure the Crosman could have easily been the worst but I've been really lucky and haven't had any issues after a few months. Staying accurate, powerful and decently quiet.
-
Best: Vortek tuned RWS350 .22 cal., an all around dream machine. Worst: Crosman 66, piece of junk! The stock disintegrated within 2 years of purchase.
-
My best is my mac 1 ld with neil clauge ldc. Worst Was a nicely figured stocked ar6 pistol but it was an innaccurate pos with every type of .22 ammo i could buy. Trigger pull in double action sucked bad. Single action tiny bit better. Over all &^^& pistol!
-
Best for me in terms of accuracy is my San Rafael-era Feinwerkbau 124 Sporter in .177 cal. Its not pellet fussy and is very consistent, even at longer ranges.
Not a fair comparison, but the worst is my B3 in .22 cal. Even at 10 yards, the accuracy isn't that great. Maybe I just haven't found its preferred pellet yet? :o
-
My friend just purchased a Beeman R9. Amazingly accurate right out of the box. Not even 100 rounds fired out of it yet!
-
The Best: Beeman R11
The Worst: Gamo Whisper VH and fully tuned too (thought the tune will fix it up but I cannot get the groups to tighten up no matter what I do)
Seems to me that it's evident that you get what you paid for, and that sometimes, you get lucky and get a good one.
-
Best: Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100
Worst: Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100
...grrr.
-
Man that is a HARD question on the best. I have some great guns right now.
Best: My best springer is my RWS 36C, but it is pushed hard by my RWS 320 and my Gamo Whisper
Worst: EASILY a TF 99 .177
-
best theoben eliminator
worst theoben evolution....(trigger)
-
My best, to date, is my AF Talon P, stock. My worst, An old chinese, B-3; to clarify, worst doesn't mean I would get rid of it because it challenges me to shoot better and does the job if I take my time and use a proper hold.
-
Best is a toss up between my Gamo CFX, my Model 34, and my gas-rammed XS46U. If I had to choose, I would probably pick the 34, even though it's less powerful than the others because it's so light and comfortable.
Worst so far is the Crosman Titan GP. I just finished a thorough tune on it, with GRTIII trigger, GRS bushing, and brass barrel washers, but it still isn't behaving. I need to put more ammo through it and experiment to find a hold it likes, but still, it really feels like Crosman didn't think the design of this gun through. Strangely, the machining is decent on the internals.
-
Multipumpers:
Best: Sheridan mfg. Blue Streak.
Worst: Daisy 880. Barrel and front sight like to wiggle free occasionally and that really messes with accuracy/function.
Agree, its not really fair to compare springers to msp, or pcp.
-
I guess I'm the only one here who is having a hard time with this. I mean, technically my daisy powerline 201 would be the worst, it's just a smoothbore bb gun that will shoot pellets too if you want to spend more $$ for worse accuracy. But here's the thing. I LOVE that gun. It was cheap, around $20 including postage, shoots cheap ammo(bbs) and while not by any means accurate does ok at the max range I can shoot it from (12-15ft). The trick to it is to use combat and novelty targets (LOVE Osama bin Ladens head, ICE target is good too), so you don't need a great group, you just try for all "kill" shots. The one time I got to shoot it outside it did well knocking down cans as well.
The "best" right now would be my 1377, since I misplaced my gamo compact. From what I recall the compact had a better trigger pull, but I'd need to shoot them both side by side to compare accuracy. The 1377 does have the advantage of variable pump and at 3 pumps it's not too loud, an ABSOLUTE necessity in my small studio I live in. It is much more accurate and even at 3 pumps more powerful than the powerline. I generally use the gamo 5 meter targets for it, but sometimes I just cant resist and Osama gets nailed by it. Pellets are way more expensive than bb's so it cost more to shoot it but being a multi pump it is a slow shooter so it doesn't burn off ammo like a c02 pellet pistol would.
This was a good question, and for me, harder to answer than for most of the people here.
-
Best: Weihrauch HW97K, Cadillac among spring guns, maybe more like a Porsche.
Worst: Chinese TF58 side lever, junk, made from junk materials, operated like junk, especially if you like a rifle to fire before you even close the lever! What a POS.
-
I can only name the worst. It was a Gamo CF 20 something or other that had an under lever and when you cocked it the breech would pop up to load a pellet. I couldn't hit a milk jug at 20yrds, when it actually did manage to get the pellet out the end of the barrel. Can you say coat hanger??
Right now my HW77K .20 is hanging out with me in the Man Cave and has been same hole accurate out to 25 yards. Every now and then something will get between me and the target and cause me to miss the spot I am aiming at. But for the most part it is dead on and it has been around for over 16 years.
Gene got to tune it and I almost had to drive over there and steal it back from him he liked it so much....
As for PCP it would be hard to beat the NJR 100 short action with the Regulator from Korick(sp) but is is gone now due to life getting in the way. Besides it was in .177 and I have switched to hunting with .22 and above.
Go to PCP now for accuracy is the S500 FAC in .22 and the DAQ 308 for just plain ole kicking azz.
Hopefully the 458 coming will top it. We will see.
-
.25 Daystate Air Ranger w/ Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 6.5-20x42mm 1/2 mil dot etched glass reticle. $2400
.22 Cummins Tool Chinese springer $19 iron sights.
-
best, qb78 .22
worst . daisy spittin image lever action bb gun, it just broke apart after a very short time.
-
Best : HW30S in .177
WORST: Trail NP and Titan LV
-
Guys I don't think it's fair for you all to compare a springer to a cheap multi pump BB gun. MO.
Some people can only afford cheap multi pump BB guns.
-
Best is subjective.
I've had some real lemons that could be in the running for the worst.
1. Tool truck sale Chinese pistol. I could throw a pellet faster than it shot it out. Barrel was so badly "drooped" it shot 6" low at 10 feet and couldn't adjust for it. Horrible construction and materials.
It went in the trash.
2 TF 89. Started out promising and looked good but...... Cocking linkage rubbed on the stock, power dropped quickly, accuracy was never there. Best thing about that gun was the scope that came with it. It's in pieces.
3. Crosman 2100 Ok gun but the scope rails in the receiver were WAY off. You couldn't even get close to sighting in any scope. Felt cheap. Gave it away.
Nathan
-
Best: Tie: Diana 48 in .22 w/Maccari ZRT kit. and HW 97 .177. Un tuned, most consistently accurate air rifles I have ever owned.
Worst: Hmmmm... where to start? QB 78 ( sticky bolt, Co2 not good in damp PNW) Gamo Big Cat ( hard hitting but sheared off a scope stop pin, loose lockup at pivot ) they were the ones I was glad to see go..
-
Hmm . . . Rifles that cost less than $60 against rifles costing $600 or more . . . I wonder who will win ?
Not a fair comparison, at all !
It should have been broken into categories
1 - Child's Gun - Anything under 400 fps
2 - Cheap Multi-Pumper
3 - Multi-Pumper
4 - Break-Barrels
5 - CO2 Powered
6 - PCP
7 - Custom or Heavily-Modded
Dave
-
I agree with Dave.
-
Doesn't seem like a "VS" question to me at all, but merely a subjective one regarding, well, which simply were the best and worst each person has had. I doubt many here have had enough of each type to make a valid or "fair" comparison. Besides, there are more than a few cases of cheapo's making people happier than their high dollar versions.
-
Best: HW97KT. Perfect out of the box. Aim-Fire-Bullseye.
Worst: Crosman 760. Shotgun pattern at 15ft no matter what I feed it.
-
I think it should be on expectations, a $500 dollar gun is going to perform better than a $ gun but I would expect alot from an expensive gun
-
Best performer is a Marauder .22 after a little work.
Worst : Agree with Dave, have not had a worst because every one of my 6 air guns has performed exactly as I expected. The cheap ones don't shoot as well as the more expensive ones and although it's a challenge trying to make a bargain gun perform better I can't blame the cheap gun for being just what it is. The very best value per dollar in an air gun I found to be a 1377 purchased in '96, it's dead accurate and still works great, for only $37.00.
-
BEST: Powerline 880. Cheap and with a 4x32 scope mounted on it and quality pellets in it she gets the job done out to 30yds.
WORST: Crosman Night Stalker. Total piece of plastic &^^& that would not shoot half the time I pulled the trigger. Waste of $100.
-
I think my 30 odd year old BSA Mercury S in 0.177 is the best BSA [and also springer of any make] I`ve ever owned, I still shoot HFT courses with it and I really love it!
Worst was an early model Turkish Webley Stingray II ,this thing was harsh and horrible to shoot, just plain nasty!!
-
Best: AA S200 .177 with peep sights my son shoots in 10 meter. It's a noisy birds worst nightmare and the compact stock makes it a jewel to shoot. I see the AA S200 Hunter may be available again. It just went to the top of my list.
Worst: Beeman R9 .20. Not because it does not shoot well because it does. I just hate that thwank of a springer. My son likes it so it will stay in the stable.
Only two air rifles I currently own.
-
i am amazed at what we like , dont like and what works metimes a pricey gun can be as big a joke as a cheep gun. but if it dont fire when trigger is pulled or hit where your looking price dont mean a thing . tomato stake guns . as for classes of guns, it shouldnt matter as you got a good 1 or its a bad 1 . i didnt even list it but i had a daisy 1100sxu that didnt last 10 shots . it never had a chance as it was defective from the start . sad part it had extremely nice well figured wood and perfect blueing ... i returned it and never looked back . lets keep the list moving , it might help a newbie make a selection and not learn the hard way .
-
Best: Probably my old Stoeger X10 that I tuned myself. Installed a GRTIII trigger, JM Apex piston seal, and JM E3650 spring and lubed with JM moly and tar. No hone on this one. I think I will probably compare every gun I'll ever own to that one.
Worst- Chinese B3 underlever- which still isn't bad for the money.
-
Since I only own cheap guns........Best: QB57 .22 Worst: Crosman 795 .177
However, The B? underlever (after a tune) is pretty descent for the price ($5) I paid for it.
Starlings fear my rifle selection! he he he

I loved the 795, very easy to work on and very basic. The only problem is the lock up. Took many Hosp and starling with it using open sights. Wore out the darn thing.
Best= Fx independence
Best= springers.. the ones in my signature..the Diana's are first.
Worst= too many to mention.
-
Best - Air Arms TX200 MkIII- right out of the box, shot great and looked beautiful. It's only money.
Worst - Gamo Whisper Deluxe. Master tuning could not help that one. Stop pin cut into the cheap riser/rail. Advertising got me.
-
Worst: That's easy, a Quest. Harsh and wickedly twangy and jumpy. Couldn't group worth a nickle.
Best: That's tough, depends on what you mean by "best". I've had a "Best" tuned HW97 and a Stingray. Best could also qualify as my P1. It was my first "adult" airgun and it is what got me on this slippery slope of airguns. Or best could mean the most accurate. That might be my USFT or R7 among others.
But to me "best" mostly means the easiest and most fun to use. That would probably be my Twinmaster... again, among others.

Yeah , Jerry I got suckered by a Whisper too! ,Gamo make guns that look great but don`t live up to their looks (and now they are screwin` over BSA`s products....!!!)

I know it's an older thread...
I have 2 air rifles that I have shot one perfect group with each. That is, a group measuring 0" center to center from a bench at 10 yards out scoped. The rifles are a Remington Airmaster 77 and 4x32 scope using 3 pumps and Crosman Premier hollow points. The other is my Crosman Custom Shop 2400 carbine in .177 and a 4x32 scope shooting, believe it or not, Gamo Match pellets. These pellets may be 3+ years old. But between these two I'd say the Custom Shop carbine is the easier to get great groups with.
The worst air gun I ever owned was two B3 Chinese under lever spring piston guns. The second was to replace the first one under warranty when it broke. Neither one could ever be considered even remotely consistent. Got rid of them. The worst I still own is a cheep Beeman take down springer rifle.I got one good group with that one of 3/16". But, again, no consistency. Just ordered a Daisy model 35, so the jury is out on that one. But see the thread, "Great BB Gun Shoot off". Decided I would like a smooth bore BB gun, so I can shoot BBs without worrying about damaging the rifling. Also could be used indoors for plinking at low power.
-
Worst = Slavia something .177. Too long ago to remember.
Best = Diana 50 Stutzen .22
-
Best: TX200MK3, If I can not choose that one I will choose the RWS-34 that is being tuned right now.
Worst: Hands down my Benjamin Trail NP. My son's Daisy 880S shoots better than the Trail.
If I had it to do all over again I would only buy German, English, or my dream rifle (FX Independence).
-
Best = Beeman HW97K in .177
Worst = Benjamin Trail NP .177
-
Best, my 1974 Sheridan Blue Streak, I have fun ringing the 6 inch gong at 50 yards.
Worst, my tool sale B3 under lever, no safety and I flinch everytime I stick my finger in the breech.
-
Best: Crosman 622 CO2 pump repeater. I got in in 1971 and still enjoy it today.
Runner-Up: Crosman 99 lever repeater. I just finished rebuilding one and it is a blast to shoot.
Worst: Daisy 200 CO2 bb pistol. It started leaking about a year after I got it.
Note: I only own CO2 guns. Call me weird.
-
my best air gun is a nice old hw-55 and the worse was a benjamin titan gp
Define best........LOL
For ME the best have been my HW77 or my several R9s (I've never had a bad R9).
Worst......I guess it would have to be the Crosman Quest 1000 bought years ago and a close "runner up" was the Gamo440 I bought to see if it was better than the Chicom copy of the Gamo220 (the Quest). Neither gun would group any tighter than 1" ctc at 30 yards, and the Quest required a BUNCH of tuning to get it to shoot 1" ctc from the 1 1/2" ctc grouping from the box. LOL.....I home tuned a $19.95 Cummins Truckload Sale Chicom B3 and it shot groups 1/2" the size of the Quest OR Gamo!
-
Best.......hmmmm, this is hard to answer but really a couple which are all German of course except for the one PCP thrown in the mix.
Best-
HW97K .22 synthetic stock
Diana Model 34 beech wood stock in .177
Benjamin Marauder .25
Worst-
Benjamin Trail NP synthetic stock in .22
But if I could only have one of the three best it would be the HW97K in the end due to easy to use and reliable and needs nothing but human effort to cock it.
