Title: .25 cal. pellets for Hatsan Sniper 125 ?
Post by: fortyshooter on April 16, 2012, 03:06:37 PM
What would be a good weight pellet to start with? I have some H&N 20.6g and some 26g pellets coming with rifle.

My Talon .25 likes both the H&N Hollowpoints and the Benjamin Domes

A few suggestions,,

There are .25 cal pellets that weight from 20 - 31gr (we're talking mainstream stuff here, OK), and one rule I tend to try to stick with is, stick to either known performers or known brands. I think it may not pay off to go to the heavier end just yet eg... 31gr Baracudas. Even though they are excellent pellets in .25 cal, that's getting very heavy for a springer... I have recently become a bit of a Polymag convert. I've seen just how accurate and how good at penetrating these can be, but not in .25 cal yet. There are those who say though, that the Polymag has a limited range after which they tend to loose a bit of accuracy, somewhat like the H&N Crow Mag (another pellet I would like to recommend),, but I have no comment on that one... One pellet I can vouch for in .25 cal is the JSB Exact King @ 25.4gr... It's middle of the road for weight and as accruate as they get and although I haven't shot at anything alive, I have no doubts as to its ability to do the job. The ballistics on this pellet is excellent and probably in your rifle it will outdo the Baracuda, even downrange, so it is a good choice to consider. I love the Baracuda in any calibre but they are best used where their weight can be taken full advantage of... The one thing about getting JSB Exact Kings pellets though is they can be hard to get ahold of,, wonder why (Shhhh - they are so good)...!!!

Remember one thing in your choice...  There may be some excellent pellets recommended by other shooters in this calibre,, BUT,, sometimes even the best pellets my not shoot well in your particular rifle, even though they work well in others, even of the same make and model. So, be prepared to try a few...

Thanks for all the info. I just rechecked my order and the 26g Crow Mags are on the list, plus the H&N field targets at 20.6g. I was using some info from, Rick's of airgunweb, review of the rifle also. Will do my own tests also using target destruction and chrony speeds, plus accuracy.
