Title: XISICO / BAM B28 .25
Post by: WHITEFANG on April 16, 2012, 03:00:31 PM
Anyone got or tried the B28 in a .25 cal? GOT ONE COMING. Being this is a 350 clone I should have plenty of parts on the shelf. Really starting to like the .25 cal. The .25 is an awesome caliber.

I'm trying to save up for a b28 in .25 for a new squirrel/rabbit gun.  To me its not about speed.  I'll take the bigger pellet.

Post up some b28 porn when you get it por favor

I have one I got from Mike. I really like it. Mine seems to like pellets in the 26gr range, it shoots them in the mid 600's. Good luck with your new toy.

Talked with MM yesterday. Barrel should fit the RWS. .25 barrels are like hens teeth. Don't  care if it fits. Clone 350 can be tuned. .25 is not for everone.  Short range and power guns. 44 mag gun. Slow moving, heavy projectile with a thud. May not exit but what a power hit!!!

Whitefang, .25 is not for everyone?  i'm new to air.  could you explain this?  i'd like to have a .25, but it'd be good to know if i'm overlooking something that could change my mind.  thanx.

The truth is the .25 is not a record setting fps in the air gun WORLD. Short RANGE and extreme THUD!!!!! KNOCK DOWN!!

so, it's just about penetration and trajectory?

Powder burner, when it comes to 25 you have to use the biggest spring gun power plant to sling the big pellets. Alot of people dont like 25 cal spring guns because they are so inefficient. Its all about if you want it or not.

And with a springer you probably wont get blow throughs with 25 cal and yes it will have a big loopy trajectory.

DJ, here's what i'm thinking.  low mag or high non-mag.  short range, big shock on small things like squirrel or cottontail.  or wait till i'm ready 4 the darkside.  let me know what u think.

You could get a hatsan 95 in 25 cal. ? Comes with a nice walnut stock and scope for like $150 pyramid air or American Arms

don't see it listed but the xisico, 85 or striker would be tempting.

If your looking 25 cal springer/gas ram you will need 350 or rx2 type power plant im not familiar with hatson but there are a couple like suggested above.

My personnal favorite power house springer is 22 350. That thing will blow through targets at 40+ yds. Squirrels rabbits etc. Personally I like efficiency and accuracy but theres something about big lead hitting little targets that just funny.

The .22 cal B-28 has a higher FPE output than the .25 cal.... The swept volume of the 350/B-28 is not quite enough for the larger caliber, at least not set up the way they are built.... I've always wondered if a fractionally larger transfer port would make the .25 cal produce more power than the .22.... but it's so difficult to go back if you go too big I question if it's worth the risk....

Drilling and tapping for swappable port sizes perhaps?

So much for this gun and project. NO .25 GUN around or seems barrel either. Guns are on order from across the pond might be here in May.

The B28's really shine in .22 caliber and as mentioned in .25 cal it's good for shorter ranges with a punch in your face knockdown power. I think that .25 is best used in PCP's and have tuned .25 springers like the Gamo Extreme .25. I had to go out and buy .25 cal ammo just to test it lol. Ed

The B28 .22 is the only .22 cal springer I have liked so far. The B26, and RWS 34P just didn't have the energy to effectively throw those pellets out, especially at my altitude. My B28 .22 chucks 16gr AA pellets out like a dream and when they hit something you know it.

Another downfall of the .25 is that the ammo is not found local for me.
