Title: Hatsan 125 mod
Post by: Bobbo on April 16, 2012, 10:56:02 AM
How can I disable the anti-beartrap part of the safety? I want to be able to un-cock my Hatsan 125 Sniper like I un-cock my Beeman R9. It is OK if the safety stays automatic, it is also OK if the safety is then just manual.

I, for one, don't feel "comfortable" talking about disabling a safety feature on any airgun or the real thing . . .

There is a VERY good reason that the "Anti-Beartrap" feature is there . . .

This was a "Stock" power level rifle . . . Imagine the same thing, but with a 180-bar Gas Ram installed !

I don't see a lot of benefit in being able to uncock a springer. Not many scenarios where just putting a pellet into the gound wont do just as well. I don't even trust the bear trap mechanisms as it is, and I've had two rifles "almost" get me, one which had no type of anti-beartrap which I ended up throwing away after it started just out of the blue letting loose, and another that the pivot area managed to take a chunk out of the spot where my left pointer finger meets the palm after a tune when the trigger assembly wasn't quite aligned right. In both cases I was lucky in that I was ready for it and had a hold of things. Nope, not worth increasing the risk of a lopped finger or cracked skull to me;D

GTA does not condone unsafe practices, like disabling a safety feature. It's there for a reason. And for the record, I like being able to decock a springer. There are times when I am preparing to take out a quarry and for some reason cannot make the shot. I would like to be able to decock the airgun without actually discharging it. Oh well...
If you want to disable a safety feature, please do not post it on GTA or ask for it on GTA. Any posts instructing or recommending said practices will be deleted.

I don't know about the Quattro triggered guns, but on my Striker all the ABT linkage did was turn on a second safety on the other side of the trigger group.
Only worked when the barrel was fully open ie at the same time that the cocking linkage was pushing the auto safety on.

You wouldn't catch me with my finger, or thumb in any breech with out me holding that barrel back.

Its just not going to happen, it's  one of the reason I don't care for under leavers, I just don't like the ideal of jamming  my fingers in that area ,  nope, I rather have a break barrel where its wide open, while holding the barrel back

No need to close this thread . . . There is already way too much censorship in the world. We know the limits and stayed within them !
