Ok, so I've brought up this topic before and I had many people try and help me. Paul68 even gratefully offered to fix it and somewhat tune it for free. As much of a great offer as that is, I really want to do this project myself.
I looked at the RS2 today and there was rust on the action and barrel. I have absolutely no idea how that is possible since the last time I shot it it was in winter and cold and dry. I also looked at the spring from what you can see by just taking off the stock. There was shreds of wood around the spring and the spring guide. The spring also feels a lot easier to cock and just doesn't shoot like it used to. This was my first springer and she shot very well when I first had her and would like to get her working again.
Now here's my question, what is the simplest and easiest way to construct a spring compressor? And is an adapter for the trigger absolutely necessary? I am not mechanically inclined at all. I'm just a typical teenager who goes to college and likes airguns. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot about springers... I've just never opened one up before.
Or would it be worth it to go through this trouble? Because parts from @SSS$$$ will be around $55 shipped or more. And a new one is about $100 I believe.

Do yourself a BIG favor Porkchops and send the gun out to Ed. He is a pro and not a wanna be air gun smith. Ed has all the tools and parts needed for the AR-1000 springers and their clones.

I've talked to Ed before and he says he does a complete tune and everything for $110. Does this include a new spring, spring guide, seals, and the works?

PM sent and it does include the works. Prices can be different for various brands of airguns depending on what need's to be done. Ed

Thanks Gene and Shadow, pm sent.

Yeah, these complex pieces of high tech equipment can be difficult without a decade or so of training and experience to draw on. Hope it works out for ya Cordero.

Thanks Paul.

$114.00 gets a new one at Wal-Mart.

Yeah I know... But I think ill send that money to Shadow and have him tune it and clean everything. It's guaranteed to have consistent fps which results in good accuracy :)

Shadow has a good rep, should turn out well.

I think you made the right choice on not trying to tune this one. Building the tear-down tool for this is a bit of a hassle, and if you don't get it the right length it can come flying off of your compressor. Ask me how I know. :) I ended up having to make a second one that was shorter in order to put it back together.
This gun has a lot of potential and I think you get your money's worth out of a good tune. The teardown and the trigger tune are both somewhat challenging to us "wanna be air gun smiths." The only reason I did mine was for the experience, and it was definitely more difficult than most of my other guns.

Your gun will come back to you transformed, or so I've heard ;)
