I bought one of these RWS 4-12x56 http://www.umarexusa.com/product/RWS-Air-Rifle-Scopes,59,59.htm from pyramydair @ the Roanoke Airgun Expo. It held up on my Diana 34P and bolt rimfire. It held zero, was quite heavy and the glass was quite dark. Sold it on the Yellow to an Airgunner in Puerto Rico, who was very happy and stated it was better than I had described it? It was worth every penny of the  seventy dollars paid for it.

Now that I think about it. In the past I have had a RWS 4x32 , RWS 6x42 , and a RWS 4-12x50. No trouble with any. The 42mm and 50 was on a RWS 48/52.  :D

Not very long I would guess!  I wish if companys wanted to package stuff like this give me a credit amount so I could put toward a great scope!  But it attracts newbies in the market for sure and I guess that is why they do it.

From what I have seen most places offer guns with or without the scope. I won't buy any more guns already scoped, rather pick my own scope.

Had NO luck with them on power house RWS / WALTHER. Even with the guns with the JM OR VORTEK WILL EAT THEM. They do not last long and some of them I can not get a clear view no matter how you set it. I had rather buy a gun and then buy my on scope.

I would keep the newer scopes on the mild springers.  From what I've read, they don't hold up well on the magnums.  Once again, it's more of a marketing gimmick without regard for the gun it will be combined with.  The older RWS scopes are pretty nice.  I had a small variable on a 54 I bought but took it off as soon as I received it.  The prior owner had only made a few shots, thankfully.  I'm not sure where the old scopes were made.  Perhaps Japan.  Then RWS went to Korea and those are decent, although still (IMHO) not up to a magnum's recoil.  Now I guess they come from China as there is very little information on the scope, itself.

John B., I found your post to be very difficult to follow.  It's that avatar, LOL!  If that's you, then more power to you, my man.  ;)

I've read that the fixed power scopes that come in packages last longer than the variable ones.
