Title: Benjamin discovery barrel question
Post by: bobster on March 22, 2012, 01:51:08 PM
Hi, how hard is it to convert a .22 disco to a .177 disco?  Can you just remove the barrel on a .22 discovery and replace it with a .177 barrel and replace the bolt?  Is it really easy to do, similar to doing it on a 22xx?

Thanks!

Yup, easy. You need barrel, bolt probe and o-ring. Even easier/faster if you get another breech.

Not as easy as on a 22XX because you have to strip the back end of the gun down each time you remove the breech.... In order to smooth out the bottom of the loading port, Crosman moved that tiny 4-48 screw back under the bolt.... It's a PITA to get at compared to on a 22XX.... You have to remove the action from the stock, remove the back trigger bolt, and slide out the rear plug and allow the hammer to move back to get the bolt far enough back to get at the screw.... Oh!, and remove the bolt handle as well....
