Uh-huh . . . I believe you . . . No, no REALLY I do . . . LOL !
Seriously, there is nothing like the feeling that comes from something you really enjoy !
Speaking of that "Target Board", you just MAY want to reinforce it and/or relocate it, since your new "toy" will likely be able to "ventilate" it !

Yeah I was thinking the same as well, definitely i will do that/
I'll save most of my shooting with the wfh for when we go camping Iam in montana and we go every other week end sometimes, we are like 1 hr away from bear tooth pass , in red lodge area.
also another good thing I was thinking was what the best fill in the butt of the stock for absorbing the vibration, the foam was great ideal for strength and support but I am wondering for vibration to add even better absorption

MONTANA . . . You "lucky dog" . . . What a great place to hunt, camp, and fish ! ( Yeah, you can shoot pellet rifles, too ... LOL ! )
Stock Filling : From what I have heard, people are either using spray-in, expandable foam or packing in pieces of shredded foam rubber.
I have never seen a side by side comparison on which method would be quieter or absorb vibration better . . .
HOWEVER, my "instincts" are telling me that the packed in foam rubber would work better than the spray-in stuff, for BOTH sound deadening and vibration reduction.
Remember, those are just my thoughts . . .

I'll let you know what i come up with, they hace that spray on rubber in a can i saw on tv comercials
I am not into hunting lol or dropping birds and critters lol unless its a pest in my yard like a skunk or possum
I do take my 357 magnum pistol in case of bears or some nut walking around lol you can believe that
I was from Philadelphia but remarried and moved to be with the misses started a whole new life

Mike,
A couple of things to remember :
(1) Any aerosol or expanding product is likely to be VERY difficult to remove, if you don't like it.
(2) Some solvents in those aerosol or expanding products MIGHT attack your "plastic" stock.
(3) The "spray-on rubber" might tend to add weight rapidly to your rifle.
I am glad to see that you "escaped from Philadelphia" . . . I "escaped" from the Fort Lauderdale / Miami area . . . LOL !
Be cautious with using any chemical products on your stock !

that's a good thought i did not think of that, we tend to think plastic is indestructible since they use it for so many containers
yeah you aren't kidding it was a escape,, phila was driving me crazy gracious i was so glad to leave it behind, although i do miss the pizza and cheesteaks

A .357 magnum is a "little light", even on a Black Bear at close range, never mind running into a Grizzly . . .
Six rounds . . . The first 5 are for the Bear, #6 is for me, in case the first 5 don't stop the Bear !
Be Careful !!!

I been told that, absolutely I be careful.
Its amazing you think shooting a bear in the head like that and he would not drop/ I find it hard to believe, but my brother in law told me the same thing so i believed him cos he is into hunting

Personally, an 8-shot, 12 gauge pump shotgun, loaded with rifled slugs would be my choice for defense against a bear at close range. Red Dot sight . . . Ventilate him !
This is "slightly" beyond the capabilities of your new Falcon Hunter . . . LOL !

lol :D wow you know your gun stuff, I am not up on guns we do have tons of pawn shops here with lots of used guns

If you can swing it, a Mossberg 500 ( 20" barrel ) with an extended magazine ( 7 +1 ) will be your "best friend" in Bear Country and just the sound of the slide being racked deals with most of the "idiots" , too !

How much do they go for
when we are at the camp fire at night i have the 357 on the cut log i always use one for a table standing on end,
this model you mentioned is good for bears then what does it shoot, how many shells will it hold
I may just get one when i star working again

The standard model has a 5 round capacity and will shoot any 12 gauge shotgun shells from 2 3/4" bird-shot, all the way up to 3" Magnum rounds with either larger shot, buck shot, or rifled slugs . . . The extended magazine adds 3 rounds capacity. The shorter barrel is better with slugs and buck shot, while the long 28" barrel is best for skeet shooting and bird hunting.
WAL-MART sells the Mossberg 500 for less than $300 ( with a longer barrel ). You can either get the extended magazine and 20" barrel online or at gun shows OR you can order one through a local gunsmith.
Also, a private purchase can be an option, since no paperwork is involved.

Just to stay "ON-TOPIC", so we don't get moved . . .
Have you had a chance to try out your Falcon Hunter on anything other than paper targets yet ?
Dave

That's pretty cool it made me laugh the guy is right though.
you know when we camp i have to look for dead trees , then i cut them with my chain saw, often its further in off the road and up hill some 100 yds its the first thing I do after the camper is set up properly because I like to get it over with, I always bring logs from our left over last camping, in case we cant get fire wood like if its late .
I always look around to see if i spot anything that looks out of place lol all i see is me i don't belong there lol

CAMPER ?
You ARE from Philadelphia, AREN'T you ?
Try the same scenario in a tent, 30 miles off the road and a 5 mile or more walk from your vehicle to the campsite. . . No cell phone connection. No generator. No running water. No bathroom . . . Just you and the BEARS !
LOL ! ! !

Not yet, there's a company on the other side of my property fence and they started building a small framed house like a modern cabin , has a bath rm, kit, hot air furnace
any way its one the other side of the fence of my property and its in line with my shooting board.
the people working on it come and go on the weekends and during the week /
so I cant do any shooting til that stops

lol
i think i have to get the shot gun that shoots slugs when the time comes.
we camp there's slits for your truck and camper trailer end of road has a bath room
there are spots that don't have any of that as well in same place
we had a 1963 camper and sold it for 700. then bought a newer 70's one that needed work that had a bath room , kit sink and a pro pane cooled fridge with a freezer.
the guy sold it to us for 275.00 /originally he wanted 550. which was a steal at that but it rained and he discover the roof was leaking. it use to be his wife's but she pass from cancer.
I coated the roof with the this stuff you do alumin roofs with, 50.00 from rv store, riped the ceiling and walls down lol
insulated, added new 2x4 to the roof frame for support, old wood was rotted.
ripped the bed area all apart and walls and insulated, re framed relocated the electrical panel , re did a bed frame with removable bed slots and paneled everything. looks great roof does not leak, i had found some mold but since i ripped everything apart its all new now.
going to rip the bath rm apart this spring toss the bath sink and shower and put in a bigger shower.. I like my showers lol
yes i was from Philadelphia but no roughing it for me // 1st class only lol

spray-in, expandable foam works great.

spray-in, expandable foam works great.
for shock adsorbing as well? cause that stuff gets hard has all that resin in it
-
That shotgun can do everything from home defense ( #8 bird-shot, up to #3 buckshot ), up to close-quarters combat (#3 buckshot up to OO buckshot ), and hunting ( #8 bird-shot / #3 buckshot / OO buckshot & rifled slugs ) . . . Very versatile !
Use #8 bird-shot for home defense . . . If you fire and miss, it will not penetrate the opposite wall in a room and kill an innocent person. the larger shot and slugs will go "through & through" !
Dave

Ah . . . Back ON-TOPIC !
The spray-in foam does get rigid . . . I suspect that it would not perform as well as the packed-in foam . . .
Just my two cents !

the spray foam is perfect other wise for filling the void, but i will look for something more shock adsorbing killing two birds with one stone
-
it does both, but as to best, it would have to be tested. who knows... i like the exp. foam.
-
Expanding foam has worked well in my striker.
-
I have been searching online to see if anyone has ever done a comparison between the spray-in, expandable foam versus the packed-in, foam rubber. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet.
Dave
-
If I were to pick an expanding foam to use, it would be the low expansion window and door expanding foam. It is white and remains quite spongy. It doesn't harden like the yellow stuff. I think that would provide more sound dampening than the other spray foams.

I doubt it criss the owner did not even know how to adjust his trigger screws

yeah magnum said the low expansion window, and door foam does not get hard like the other stuff so that got to be the one to go with
cool wallmart here we come

That stuff stays like soft rubber. I have it sealing my french doors and has been there at least 10 years. It is still soft and spongy today.
-
GREAT RESEARCH, guys . . .
The "GREAT STUFF" for windows and doors sounds perfect for our use in rifle stocks !
