Title: Sounds like Cometa is getting a new Distributor.
Post by: Charles Outdoors on March 14, 2012, 10:39:57 PM
I contacted them about my stock and they referred me to Airforce Airguns in Fort Worth, Tx. When I contacted them I found out the deal is in the works. I hope that's good news for the future! Hopefully I will hear some news on getting a replacement stock soon.

Interesting, maybe that means the Lynx wont have all the issues it had originally.  Since Airforce has some light experience with PCP's LOL

This could be just the sort of deal to get the missing "Lynx" back on track

Cometa seems to be one of those up and comings that stalls in the process alot though, maybe what they truly need is a good solid distributor......

I had an RWS 94 sometime back, and that was an EXCELLENT gun.   Now, when I had bought it it had been tuned by Russ Best, so the gun was probably hand over fist better than it would have been in stock config.   only thing I didn't like was its trigger....... but it was a very accurate gun.

RaneDouglas has alot of recent experience with them....he claims that they will do 18-19 ftlbs smoothly, which is 3-4 lbs over what the competition like the 34 series, and the china clones will do.   I have no reason to doubt the claims, so this is really what would make them the up and comer.....spring rifle, around 7.5 lbs. ... and that kind of energy is a great combo...

But sourceing parts, and stuff ....that has kept me in china so far. ....  that's why Im such a big fan of the clones, there are parts galore out there, and Mike is well established as great support.

I think they have the potential to be as big as anybody in the the non-german, 13-19 ftlb, spring powered rifle area right now.   Spring guns seem like they are giving way to gas ram guns.   I like to see someone still making the spring guns, and giving competetion.....competetion makes it better for all of the more serious agunners....

God bless,

Farmer

The rumor I got was the last distrubtor was a small company and Cometa was wanting to increase their marketing in the US.
Maybe the deal with Airforce will work out.

The last company was actually a bicycle shop as well.  Good idea to diverse.  Unfortunately for us, fortunately for them, the bicycle business is off to the races and Cometa airguns was taking up too much time.  The upside, I got some good deals on a gun and some scopes when Manou Bros went out of the airgun biz.

Cometa has some strong points; they make their guns in the Eibar region of Spain with local talent, the region is famous for 100's of years of gun and barrel making. They control all their own barrel and trigger making in-house and are considered a "tough" customer for those items that they source outside. The fit and finish of their guns shows the quality control they strive for.

I think the appeal of their guns and guns like the Hatsans and Retays, is that they are not the same-ol / same-ol RWS/Chinese/Clone of Gamo guns that populate the mass market food chain. ie; quality right out of the box without rust removal, exchanged triggers and new mainsprings.

I would be glad to see what happens, but there is also more than one rumor flying about. The only thing I am sure of is that the Manou Bros are getting out of it. If someone were picked to be 'in' I dont think it would be long till they had a shipment. Others have also been told they will be part of the distribution. Frankly I have seen no notable change since August.

Yeah, from what I read this is not the 1st time they where suppose to have a distributor and it didn't happen.

Airforce Airguns is only about 60 miles from me in Texas. Maybe they just referred me to the closest one on the list of candidates.

I am looking forward to this also.  I was on the list for a .177 but never heard anything about them.
