My KS air gun hunt video has gotten so many hits that I may be getting some money from Youtube for it! Thanks for all of you guys that have viewed it! I can't wait to get some night raccoon and possum hunting on video. ;D

I got TWO calls today about coyotes running amok! One is from a guy over in Middle Tennessee that had his dog killed by one! The other is my friend Jim who said he heard a bunch raiding the ducks and geese along the creek the other night. They JUST cut his field to so it is PRIME for coyote hunting!
I'm going to have to speak to the wifey about investing in some nicer camera gear. I'm sure she'll say, "why don't you just sell some of your air guns to pay for it?". BLASPHEMY! :P

Very cool! Congrats!

That is one cool video Randy, very nice :)

Great shots Randy.. Two in one for sure...:) Thanks for sharing with us.

Very nice. I remember that video. How many hits did it get so far? I didn't know Youtube pays you if you go over a certain # of hits. Is that why everyone is posting meaningless vids of themselves on Youtube? :)
-
It is over 3,000 hits, which is pretty good for a hunting video. What they pay you for is to advertise "relevant" products as part of the video. You don't actually get any money until it is up to a hundred bucks I think. That means I can buy another cheap China gun with my proceeds! ;D
I'm always torn between trying to shoot some video and hunting. It is hard to find folks that will take pictures instead of getting in on the action. I try and use remote cameras now to capture footage. In fact I ordered two more tripods to be able to get multiple camera angles!
I've got one camera setup on the deck for shooting night footage already. It is just that I'm out of town on business or I'm sure I would have a kill or three already on tape!
My friend Jake invited me to go coyote hunting with him on Saturday. I'm going to take my shotgun AND my cameras. I just hope that I can get some footage of a coyote kill.

Say something next time you're in Kansas, I'd be up for helping you get some good videos.

I might be out around January 6th. I'm pondering going to the Coyote calling contest in St. Francis, KS ran by Brent Rueb. (You say it "REEB"). My wife is horrified that I would go out there just to hunt instead of visiting family, but I can do both if I go out the week before.
-
3,498 hits so far, and I supplied one more hit of my own.
It's okay, really, I'll just demand a share of the "royalties."
;)

Great video! Thanks!

Nice shooting.
How do you have your camera mounted to your gun? I'm thinking of making a fixture for my Mrod.. not sure where to start. I want something easy to take off and on but that will hold solid like yours seems to do.
-
Mine is actually mounted with a sponge-like pad and Velcro on the side of my rifle. I didn't spend hardly any money on the camera so if it breaks I don't mind.
There are better ways to mount the camera, but the Velcro and the pad work well for me. I'll see if I can dig up a picture of how it works.
-
This is how it is mounted on my RWS 350. The mount is universal.

Nice shot and cool video.
How far was the shot on the rabbit?
-
It was around 30 yards. You have to be able to shoot a long way when you are in KS :)
-
$$$ for hunting vid's you can't beat that bro. Ed
-
Cool video and I love the high tech camera arrangement! :)
-
Nice camera/gun setup Randy! I was wondering how you got it to "stick" to the side of the gun :) Great looking honey color 350 too!!
-
I like it. Nice shooting too. I realize that the head of a rabbit is about the size of two and a half sparrows, but still that a good shot. Also, it looks like it's even farther.
-
Thanks for the tip Randy. I will try that - no sense over engineering it. Cheap and cheerful is the way to go. How does it look when you zoom the camera in - does it line up with your shot fairly well? I'd give it a try. Close ups are much more dramatic.
-
very cool never knew youtube paid people...
-
It lines up just fine with where you are aiming. The issue is my camera is SO cheap that if you zoom it hardly any at all it starts to pixelate. It would be FAR easier to shoot with a camera person!
