Title: Trail xl all back together.
Post by: Nate the airgunner on March 11, 2012, 11:57:01 PM
Well, after installing brass washers and a GRTII in the Trail NP XL 1100, she's all ready to shoot tommorow. :) I'll posts pictures of groups with different pellets tommorow. Wish me luck.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your gun does. I have the washers and the bushing, but I have not opened my gun up to put them in. I did installed the GRTII trigger and that was a great improvement. I also switched from CPHP to JSB heavies 18gr. and that made a big improvement. The JSB Monster 25 gr. also shoot well, one hole groups at 30 yards, they have a lot of drop further out though.

Shot great groups with the JSB 16 gr today, 1 inch at 35 yads, but im not used to the light grtIII trigger, so I had quite a few fliers :( lol, ill get used to it.

You think 1" is good? ;) You should see what my Mrod is doing at 35 yards.... Not to rub it in or anything... :D :D :D

1 inch at 35 is marginal, lemmie explain.

If you are only going to take 35 yd shots, this is acceptable.  Can bottoms at 60 is acceptable

What makes it really acceptable is that this is only 2 sessions of shooting, if I read right.   Congrats on the tune, and dont just go for the lightest trigger, go with what WORKS.   If that is a few ounces heavier, but more predictable and repeatable, then go with what groups best....you will LEARN the feel with time behind the finger-hook.

Then, there may be better grouping ammo also.

1 inch at 35 is not exceptional, but beats the heck out of 1 inch at 25.

God bless,

Farmer

I'd say that's, petty darn good shooting, my favorite target is the clay targets you shoot at with a shotgun. I buy them by the case, around $6.00. , and I use clips & String to hang them from trees limbs. The first person gets a 4" target to shoot at, then each person after that has to shoot the remaining pieces until it all gone. The XL1100 is the one that cleans up at 60 yards.
