Title: My Fienwerkbau 124's second life ..... new and improved look & function
Post by: Motorhead on March 10, 2012, 01:03:32 AM
Original owner from back in the mid 1980's having seen likely 10K pellets or more in those 30 years.
Just overhauled by Mac-1 using a Maccarri spring/seal kit. Trigger/sear reworked myself after getting back.

Was never really impressed with the look of the factory beech DX stock and in 30 years use finish was pretty haggard looking.
So ... Roughed it up with a maroon scotch-bright pad, degreased it and coated with Dupli-color truck bed coating giving both the stock and custom air stripper & shroud
3 light even coats.

Rifle looks nothing like it's former self, and actually like it MUCH better !! .... yea I know defacing a classic   :'(  I just figure guns staying with me till I die of old age or worse, so when the time comes for it to be someone else's it's there problem.

Rifle shoots BETTER than it ever has !
Feels better in hand !
Far quieter and IMO darn nice looking too !

Just sharing some old school GERMAN excellence with a second lease on life  ;D

Kewl!!!;) how does the shroud effect sound and balance? Definitely has some tactical overtones to it. I Like the route you took with the bed liner finish. And if the stock was pretty beat up to begin with, then I agree you did the right thing. Classic stock or not, ugly and beat up is still ugly and beat up looking no matter what. Nice job. tjk

Some better day time photos ...

Air stripper and support base made from Delrin plastic, Shroud thin wall aluminum.
Frankly don't feel balance changed much at all from the original solid aluminum beeman cocking handle/muzzle brake that was in place before.
Short piece of foam "Grab on Grip" tips the barrel for cocking, No mar wall leaning etc ...

When Standing and Listening down range @30 feet JUST AS QUIET as my sons Benji NP except for mechanical spring twang it has and NP does not.

Good looking. You can not beat that bedliner spray. If you use it make sue that's what you want because once it dries it is very hard to remove. I have used the black and the tan and the stuff will also allow you to top coat it or camo it. The clear poly will stick to it great as well. Great job.
