Title: Benjamin 392 scope
Post by: jps42 on March 05, 2012, 12:14:20 PM
What would yalls recommendations be for a scope on a Benjamin 392, I just rebuilt mine and want to scope it. I would prefer the scope that I purchase have target turrets.

Thanks

How are you planning on mounting it?

Dovetails in bolt housing, dovetail add on mount, barrel mount?
barrel mount will need long eye relief.....most pistol scopes will work for that.
If you have a bolt housing type mount, then whatever you would like.   I would stick to a 50yd parallex or under.
I like leapers bug busters...they are short and light.

It can be a simple, cheap 4x rimfire scope if you want.  The 392 has no recoil to speak of, so a cheap scope with clear glass will work just fine....

God bless,

Farmer

I was thinking of using a barrel mount with offset rings, or a air Venturi mount with a bug buster

BSA scopes are nice, the Sweet .22 or Sweet .17 have good sized finger turrets, AO to 10 yards and.. they are fairly compact but not as short (restrictive mounting options) as a Bug-buster.

Nice setup, has anybody used the cheap daisy red dot. That might be an option for me to.

I prefer the older, two-piece Sheridan mounts that come up for sale from time to time.  It's my understanding that the four-piece mounts currently offered contribute to barrel separation, but you might want to run that by the Crosman forum.  I have one of my Streaks scoped with a 4X in the conventional manner, not Scout style.  The main concern is the bolt handle clearance.  I pump by turning the gun upside down and laying the barrel across my thigh (with that leg up on a chair, fence rail, etc).  This allows me to pump with one hand while holding the stock with the other.  Scope is then not at all in the way.

I think we pump the gun the same way. ;)

Looking at all of this the air venturi intermount looks like the way to go. Just need to pick out the scope, does the bugbuster have target turrets?

No target turrets on the Bugbuster.
With a mildot scope you don't really need it.
