Would it be possible to have a gunsmith drill and tap a piece of picatinny rail to the top of the receiver just to widen the array of scope ring mounting options for the rifle?
I realize that there is a 11mm to picatinny adapter out there but some of them have barrel droop compensation machined into them and they also add height to the receiver and I would like to keep the scope as close to the barrel as possible. I have a tactical base and rings on my .22-250 M70 heavy varmint rifle I got from Leupold and there terrific they use torx head screws vs. Allen or hex which is nice to plus they make the gun look like a serious sniper rifle which I like. My concern would be that the screw holes would have to be drilled to deep for the base to mount correctly and be sturdy. Has any one mounted a scope on an Mrod this way.

waste of time and money!!! ::) the 11mm dovetails are just fine, the Marauder does not have massive RECOIL that would move the scope, nor does it have a barrel droop problem...
if it ain't broke Don't fix it

I figured as much just curious, better to ask for free here than pay for it and find out the hard way.

Check out Pyramydair for a wide assortment of rings, but you'll probably want high rings to clear the mag and you'll be able to use a large objective scope which will be close enough to the barrel to give the look you are going after... here is a pic of mine with high rings and only a 40mm objective scope, I have room for atleast a 50mm

I have a 56mm objective (Leapers 6-24X56) on mine and I'm using medium rings. It fits just fine.
